So here they are...

Nice finds Stramonium, those are in pristine condition.
The ovoids I find prefer flood debris. Stay within 20' of the river, and pay close attention to banks that slope down into the water rather than drop off. You'll see plastic bottles and piles of sticks around tree trunks that indicate flood zones. Edit: And yes, look under the grass or weeds if they are taller than 2 cm.

I generally find them in a different type of area, just thought I'd add it. The more places you look the better your chances of finding them.
Look along streams that feed rivers, usually pretty close (within a mile or 2) of the river itself. In a place that trees become more sparse and consequently there is more undergrowth. This undergrowth creates the microclimate of temp and humidity the Ovoids love. However, it is sometimes difficult to find them in the thick undergrowth. Also look for big piles of wood debris in a place like this.

Congrats to everyone on their finds this season, very nice photos also.So i had a chance today to go out and check some new places. All of my patches along the rivers have taken a significant beating from the spring flood this year,i probably wont see anything from those till summer maybe fall So me and the dog went for a walk to check out a small forest not too far from home. After about 15 minutes of searching i started to find them,

Something was kind enough to take a dump in the vicinity of the ovoids
Then i find these guys in a little hole in the ground under the knotweed canopy,

  The habitat,

 And a slug,

So i ended up with about 3 handfuls and left a bunch due to rotting.I have no clue as to why i haven't checked this place before,it looks so promising.Im going to take my cousin back there with me this weekend to cover more ground,it must be explored

Indeed, very interesting and would help with choosing similar spots over here for species introduction
Seems a bit boggy in some of them shots, do these pups like it in waterlogged places like that or just nearby where the ground is a bit more firm? Or both?
I know I've found our native semilanceata still fruiting profusely in waterlogged areas on occasion. Can the same be said of these, especially as they spread via the floodwaters?

Howdy all, I've picking ovoid's for the past few weeks in WV, between the Kanawha River and Ohio River. Most of these have bluing and purple dark brown spore print/ a few have same print but don't bruise blue even after drying. Could these still be ovoids? Thanks!

The ones I find rarely show strong bluing, and the prints are dark brown to black with a trace of purple.

Thanks for reply Hygrocybe, Maybe I shouldn't have said sporeprint purple, dark brown. You're description is a better descrip with trace of purple. Do other mushrooms that look like ovoids, but are not, have the identical spore print color as ovoids?

You'd be best starting your own thread asking for an ID request on the ones you are not sure on, along with some good quality pics from slightly above then slightly below showing gills. Perhaps even a good macro shot of sporeprint:

well i've found alot by the river here in huntington wv, not in the knotweeds, and their everywhere with vegatation growing up. but they only seem to be in one area...like a 100yard radius each way, from the river to the top of the bank along a floodwall. i've picked prolly 80 so far. today was kinda slow only found about 20 since i went sunday.

btw i wouldn't suggest making shroom tea with these, i chopped up 60grams and let it soak in water after it boiled and cooled some.. they sat in there 35minutes and i drank it. now im not gonna lie i was tripping some, but nothing compared to if i ate them.

Making tea, or infusions, with hot water will degrade the psilocybin over time. 15 minutes should be plenty of time if you give the shrooms a good hard squeeze. You can use a potato masher with a flat bottomed bowl, or a soup spoon, or put them in a coffee filter and squeeze them by hand. You can also protect them from oxidization during this process by adding 1000 mg of crushed vitamin C to each cup of water.

Well this particular spot the ground is still moist from all the rain we've gotten over the past month, but its firm enough to where your not sinking while standing on it.The river was about 60 feet from the finds.Ive never had any luck finding ovoids in spots that are too waterlogged.I had to crawl through all the knot-weed that you see on the sides of the path, none were found on the actual path and very few around the edges of the knot-weed patches.Quote:

I guess so
Went back to the same spot for about 20 minutes and found a few more,

I cant wait to have a whole day here tomorrow.
And here's a pic of what i had to crawl in to find these,

You can see all the flood debris laying around. This is also the first time I've found them outside mulched areas and tall grass. They seem to be more prolific in those areas.

What's up gentlemen.
I went out for the day hunting and came through with a new spot.
It was actually quite an adventure.
Went to the spot I just located a week ago and only saw this.
They were too small so I let them live on to grow a bit. I figured I'd check the few places in this area I had not checked yet, since I was already there.
Sadly no more 'Voids but I did happen across some interesting shit.
A slug around 2 inches long. (Right next to some poo.)

A super old cash register that got chucked down the hill.
And a freakin' golf cart (I guess).
The cart also seemed to have been chucked down the hill. There were also some refridgerators. Lol, those hillbillies. "Pay for pick up? Fuck that, we uh chuck down the hill."
Some local graffiti. A coincedence I guess.
Anyway, after awhile I decided to locate some new territory. Found a bunch of these giant toads at another empty spot I checked.

Moved to yet another location. This spot looked great. I spotted this unopened can of tea washed into the woods by the floodwaters. I was so interested I went in a little closer to take a picture...
....and lo and behold, right by this strange fellow was...
 WHAM! Hell yeah, thinks I.
I looked in the vicinity of these guys and located around 40 grams fresh. Not too bad.
As you can see, some of them were about to be rotten, and quite a few were rotten and I had to leave them there. Se la vi.
Oh yeah, and this slug must have been wacked out of his skull (I guess he doesn't have a skull but w/e.)
I wonder if the psilocin affects their tiny little nervous system at all. I find them munching Ovoids all the time.
Strange that the flood left this.
And oh yeah, I saw about a fuckin' trillion tires today. This area had so many I had to take a pic of one pile.

And I will leave you gentlemen w/ some habitat shots. Good day to you.
