Caffeine Appreciation

God i feel Soooo000oooo much better. I gave up caffeine a while ago (mainly in the form of yerba mate) and felt a little less tense, but MAN was i lazy. Ive put on weight, and battled mild depression off and on.
well i finally had enough when the past week i was stuck in a mellow depression that gave me a complete apathy for life. I didnt wanna do Any Thing but play WoW. enough was enough and loaded another gourd and felt amazing. Not manic or anything, but my depression was immediately lifted as i was able to think more clearly, optimistic, and rationally about my situation....with a nice inner energy to top it off.
Why is it as you age caffeine becomes a fucking stable to life! What form do you guys drink? Tea, coffee, pills, Kola nut, yerba mate, etc??

I used to drink a shitload of coffee and have since cut way back. At one point I was bringing a big thermos from home to work and then would have one or two large dunkin ice coffees cause there was one in the place that I worked at
Now I usually have one cup of coffee in the morning, sometimes I'll make tea which I'm starting to enjoy more and more these days

because it is arguably the most addictive drug on the planet, partly due to how often it's consumed without even realizing it's psychoactive addicting properties. so you grow up drinking soda's daily from 5 yrs up to 18-20 when you realize how great coffee is, then at some point you can't even start your day without a full cup or 2 of coffee.
how long did you go without having any caffeine? cause every one of those symptoms (fatigue, depression, apathy) are all withdrawal effects from caffeine.
i tried quitting caffeine once, by the 3rd day i didn't want to do anything but lay in my bed all day and cuss at everyone who wanted to talk to me. got tired of that so i said fuck it and just started drinking caffeine again. i'd love to be 100% clean of caffeine, mostly because of how much if affects your memory and for the sole purpose of not being hooked on it. i'd like to wake up in the morning and feel as refreshed sober as i do after the first cup of white mocha for the day.

I drink a lot of tea. Mostly green and earl grey, although I have a bunch of other teas.
I'll have a cup of coffee once or twice a week, but that's usually at work.

Yerba Mate in particular has the most uplifting, positively benign euphoria of any caffeine containing plant I've tried. There's something heavenly about it when prepared and consumed in the traditional way. Preparation is ritual for me. I've been drinking this tea traditionally for nearly a year now. I might be addicted but it is no way comparable to coffee addiction. Mate gets me going while relaxing me at the same time. On a bright sunny day it makes me feel so alive and on a rainy day sheds the cloak of lethargy usually accompanied by dull weather and blunted mood.
AS a result, I've come to regard this plant as nearly sacred, held in high regard, a part of my life that I will never part with. Without it I simply am too unstable and easily affected by outside influences to enjoy myself fully day in and day out. The addition of mate in my life has furthered my interest in healthy living and nutrition. I eat healthier, I exercise, I develop hobbies, and I am more myself. This tea has allowed me to have the power to make change in my life. Plus it tastes so damn good! I realize a lot of what I wrote might sound a bit stretched, but mate has become such a part of my daily life, a part of me almost, that I view my life as before yerba and after yerba. I am much more grounded now, open to new ideas and allowing me to be me. Mate has reinforced the positivity always present but never fully revealed.

As much as I love drugs and with my addictive personality, I never understood all the fuss about caffeine. I guess I should consider myself lucky.

Earl Grey is the most homosexual beverage next to semen. Get yourself some decent black tea.

I think that's kinda sad
You NEED caffeine not to feel depressed and lazy?? Why don't you change yourself? Maybe you should go out for a run instead of playing WoW all day
People downplay caffeine addiction like crazy. How many people do you know that HAVE to have their coffee before they can function in the morning? It's sad that our government keeps caffeine legal and makes things like weed illegal....
anything to keep the population working longer
I rarely drink coffee and soda whenever I DO drink coffee it always gets me way too wired and jittery & makes me really uncomfortable.

Yeah man, caffeine is great, as long as you don't ruin it by banging own five redbulls a day. Cuban coffee is the best thing ever when you're feeling down or lazy.

I have recently completely stopped drinking caffeine.
Never drank coffee, but I used to drink Pepsi all the time. I stopped that maybe 3 weeks ago. Feeling good!
My caffeine consumption wasn't bad though. Caffeine is one of the substance I cannot get addicted too.

Makes you wonder how much making caffeine taboo like cigarettes are would improve heart health.

I had a group of people in church insisting caffeine and alcohol aren't drugs (all drugs are wrong)
Then they prayed for me, because I told them pot wasn't dangerous.

I quit caffeine for a year and a half. I made some tea and coffee and drank that for a week and noticed bad stomach problems so I stopped. It's a shame, I was really enjoying the caffeine stimulation and it was a godsend for work.
