Grain jar overcame bacterial infection . Question.
    #14372068 - 04/29/11 10:57 AM (12 years, 8 months ago)

So I have two grain  jars of WBS that i was going to pitch last week because both jars had a small spot of contams.

Well I ended up going away for a few days and the mycelium overcame the contam.

I decided to wait 4 more days to make sure everything was kosher and it appears so.

My question is what to do with these two jars g2g transfer or just throw them in with some coir?

well its definitely possible to overcome a contam, but you should also know trich mycelium looks extremely similar to cubes once its gotten going. but if it has kicked it, then yes i would just crumble and mix with the coir. good luck!

I had some BRF PF jars overcome orange bacterial contam and I ended up just fruiting them normally, you could probably do whatever you want with them.

Not trich and its not a cake people wbs .

come on and read. I'll take some advice from someone who can actually read my post.

If it was trich it would have turned by now and as stated it was a bacterial contam.  That which looks nothing like trich or mycelium .

You guys :picard:

many people spawn slightly bacteria-y grains to slightly drier bulk substrate.

more often than not the mycelium will win the race.

especially on coir.

Thank you now guys thats how you answer a question.

So I have other qrt jars that look good im just gonna use the ones that overcame the infection on some coir.

Just gonna bump up my spawn to sub ratio from 1;4 to 1:2 with these guys just to make sure they win the battle.

I would go one step further and just do a rez-effect type grow spawning it to verm. I don't even like to waste the coir on it, because performance is sub par. Spawn it to verm, get what you can from it, and toss it. Or bury it in a small hole outside.

Have the jars fully colonized?  I had some that I thought 'overcame' some bact spot, but they had some areas in the center that never colonized even thought he outside was fully colonized.  They didn't do that great in fruit, but that may have been the plastic pan I used that had crappy drainage.  I would go ahead and spawn, even if they smell bad, just leave out the uncolonized parts if applicable.

Correct answer: shake jars well as if in preparation for spawning, and then observe them for recolonization.
If they recolonize, then spawn them.
