ID help request from east NC such a beautiful flush must be identyfied
    #14369024 - 04/28/11 07:37 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

Habitat:
Found in between two active horse corals which are raised 6 inches above grass there is a strip of grass which acts as a channel for the rain running off them it seperates them by 15 feet running the length which is about 100 yards the grass area is just barley obtuse instead of flat so naturally the horse manure rain water troughs there. grass about 4 to 6 inchs high with a flush of thousands running all the way down the strip. as i remember they cluster and are seperate

Gills:
light to dark brown, free stalk attachment i believe, close gill,.... resembles lawn mowers mushroom.

Stem:
2 to 3 inches light brown slight tapering increase in diam. towards top of cap. club shape. no ring.

Cap:
convex cap smooth at pick .5 to 2.5 inch diameter.

Spore print color:
brown/could be rust pic included

Bruising:
non

Other information:
scent is mild. a very beautiful specimen period. the fact of dung and location suggests possibility of being active yet no blueish bruising and spore print doesn't agree.

ok thank you i looked and psathyrella foenisecii aka lawn mower mushroom is noted saying it is a look alike..this is good it means on my first try i am making good observations. the fact that its cap is a little bigger gills are more brown than rust and cap does seem to crack on drying makes P. foenisecii more and more accurate right?

oh and btw you are wrong. I said what i meant. look it up if you so feel the need to correct be correct yourself.

I am correct. That name is deprecated. That means someone realised it was in the wrong genus and put it in a different one.

And I don't feel the need to correct, I just thought you'd want to know rather than have everyone watching you use the wrong name and not telling you that you're doing so.

So here's my correction for you: It's you that has your head up your arse, not me.

It's called a depreciated synonym. Panaeolina foenisecii is the currently accepted name for the specimens you speak of.

EDIT: LOL at the words in bold. Fail, BIV.

agrocybe is one of the first mushrooms to appear in spring in new england, not sure where you are or what you are looking for although i could guess
saying you have a picture of a beautiful flush is misleading, but showing interest is a good thing
