LC and refridgeration, myc floating on top

I have a clean LC that I store in the fridge when I'm not using it.
Whenever I take it out of the fridge, almost all of the mycelium are floating on the top. Sometimes they stay that way for a few days even after returning to room temperature.
Under normal conditions, the myc always sinks to the bottom in my experience.
I wonder, is there any reason I shouldn't suck the LC up into a syringe and knock up my grain while the myc is floating on the top?

First, don't keep re-tapping the same jar, you are asking for trouble. Second, floating myc in LC is almost always bad news. ... you say it sinks, is that without any stirring? Just take it out and leave it on a countertop?

Good info man. Its been floating for a couple days at room temp now. I've stirred a few times and it just floats back to the top after an hour or two. I'd get a pic but my camera doesn't do well with glass. It looks completely normal, except that the myc is floating instead of chilling at the bottom. Im gonna knock up a couple jars and see if anything happens.

Aspirate some into a shot glass and give it a whiff. I bet it smells a little like stale beer. Those yeasts are busy changing the buoyancy of the solution with their pee maybe.

The LC is bad or my yeast pee story is bad?

My room temp is between 70 and 75F every day. Tonight the myc is about 1/3 on top and 2/3 sunk to the bottom. I think I'll try a cake just to test and see what the fuck is going on.

It's all back at the bottom. Crazy. Doing up a cake now for a test.

I think it's clean still. I tested a PF cake and a rye berry bag.

Both are showing good signs of growth after 5 days. I sucked the rest of my LC into 60cc syringes and will be using it soon so I don't have to keep poking my jar.
