lol doc t u speak as though you are speaking for the state government of Colorado.
I know where you're gettin at, colorados generally pretty fuckoff-ish towards federal involvement but I'd say you're exaggerating their stance a little.

That was very difficult to type a concept so contradictory to the u.s. Constitution. This document was put into place with one thing in mind they were trying to avoid- the British imperial system of law. When a king tells you that you aren't aloud to do something that you should be able to do(in their case it was specifically in regards to currency), we thought it was necessary to divide power up among the states, to prevent this kind of atrocity from happening.
Civil war changed all that. It would take another one to change it back.

Not much.
Come live out here, you'll see what I mean. It's a whole different vibe from back East, a different 'nation' if you will.
Folks are amazingly helpful on an individual level. For example, if you have to push your car on the street, people will stop, get out of their cars, help push, then get back in their cars, wave and smile and drive off. Getting a jump start for your car is as easy as holding up jumper cables in a parking lot, or just asking people if they have cables.
And yet the communalism doesn't produce socialism (small-s), people are fiercely libertarian in their outlook. It's a Jeffersonian Utopia, really. "You freedom is absolute- as long as you keep it over there away from me".

I agree with doc on his assessment of the colorado attitude. I will add that there is some fake midwest nice still lingering... as a born and raised east coaster if do find this to be annoying, but tolerable. And people are way different about talking about their weed game out here, way way different. It still scares me a bit, but I'm getting used to it. It's how it should be. I still try to keep a bit on the d/l, instincts and all, but I'm getting more used to it. The feds are obviously busy with the dispensaries. Adding to that, I don't think the "scene" is going to come rushing out in numbers to stop the feds from raiding the dispensaries that pushed for the bills that cut out all their small competition, IMO.

It's not fake. We actually are nice out here.
Back in the day, you had to be nice. Neighbors were your only way to survive. Nobody can live out here alone, and all the assholes died off. Survival of the nicest.

Yo docT I live in Denver/boulder area. (Broomfield currently unfortunately). And I totally feel what you're talkin about, I feel it too and I live here cause it's special to me. However, I'm pessimistic about the way the states gonna handle this whole thing. If Colorado expresses resistance towards the federal gov. I will have like 50 times more respect for the place than I already do. Maybe you know something I dont, but I'd be surprised to see them holdout over the mmj thing. I could see them cracking down on the 130,000 registered patients, mainly young males, and only allowing those with like terminal illness get their card. Hopefully I'm wrong but man all these fed invasion stories have gotten me preparing for the worse.

MMJ is basically a joke anyway, that doesn't bother me. (Yes, there are legit mmj patients. That's not what I'm saying.)
But people out here are too thrifty to spend money busting pot smokers. And they just don't care either. Everybody knows it's no worse than alcohol or tobacco.

Everyone I know feels that way. But when it comes to state employees who regulate it being threatened by us attorneys, I'm afraid they don't feel that strongly about it. Again, hopefully I'm wrong. I really don't know for sure, I'd just be surprised if they don't comply with fed orders, whatever those turn out to be.

State employees are supervised by political appointees. We vote in politicians who don't care about busting dopers, they appoint people to jobs. Easy-peasy.
We've been edging around this for a couple decades, and we'll get it figured out. There's got to be a way to make money off weed without being hassled, we'll find it. That's another part of the culture out here- cheery optimism about the future.

Texas shackles have a 5-year parole attached with them. Once I get out of Texas, I psychologically carry the shackles with me for years until all the Texas rubs out of me lol. I kinda feel like that honestly.

Nah I got a buddy down there in lakewood. Broomfields up north by Westminster/northglenn.
Check this out man http://blogs.westword.com/latestword/2010/07/medical_marijuana_ban_in_broom.php
That's not even the worse of it. I can't find this one article, but it was with the chief if police in Broomfield. Lol get this, he says they did a "informal study on the streets" (literally quote) that showed how parents "coming down" from cannabis were more likely to ABUSE THEIR CHILDREN! lol here's an "Informal study", who thinks this cops a douchebag? Then he says, "they're jonesin I tell ya". That's another quote lol. Broomfield is sandwiched between Denver and boulder! Yet they think like Texas.

See, people that look hysterical like that just look hysterical. Everybody knows somebody who smokes pot in Colorado, and we aren't a state full of maniacs. In fact if you look at economics, we're pretty productive, in a mellow and creative way.
