Looks like the death toll is good for 300, making it the worst tornado disaster in over 40 years for America.

I was just going to post that. Like 170 tornados in one day?

Can't we have a natural disaster thread without bringing up 2012?

Doppler radar, 24/7 news on eight channels, live interweb coverage. Makes it seem like a lot of tornadoes.

Because there were like 170+ in one day with 300 people likely dead.

Anyone see that movie the day after tomorrow? reminds me of that. The news here just talked about some of the tornadoes. Pretty sad that all these people had to die.

that huge cell that produced the mile wide twister that ripped through Tuscaloosa passed just a little north of my house last night. i went on the porch and saw the lightning it was producing from miles away. shit had some phenomenal energy, to say the least.
was a very creepy night.

"We are all intoxicated. We were born into an insane asylum, a world crazy-making. We believe what we see and hear. The real myth is the myth of sanity, of rationality: it's a disease that is eating away at the earth. All the poisons flow from our denial. We deny madness, we forget our crimes, we dismember the corpse, we imprison our children. We need poison to poison the poison, to remember the sacred nature of intoxication, the green body of the young god." ~ Dale Pendell

We got largely spared by all the severe storms today. Everything went slightly to the north west of us.
We did get clipped by a storm around 6:50pm that surprised the hell out of me. I was smoking a cigarette on the back porch, heard a couple rumbles of thunder and a few rain drops and then as soon as I got inside it was like a TORRENTIAL downpour with massive winds. My neighbors had a few trees fall down and we lost power for about 2 hours.
It was so quick. It went from a few rain drops to hurricane in a matter of 2 minutes.
But that was it. I drove around a bit afterwards to see if there was a tree that fell on the power lines outside the neighborhood (lots of above ground lines outside my neighborhood), but I couldn't find anything. I did see about 8 downed trees, two of which fell across part of the road. Lots of debris too, tree branches and large chunks of wood I had to avoid.
I called the police to let them know where the worst of the fallen tree was. It was 3/4 across the road, so I stayed there until a cruiser arrived and the cop was very grateful I called it in there and warned other people since it was on a blind corner @ 45mph and someone easily could have ran straight into it.
It's nice to have the cops on your side. It turns out it was one of the officers that responded after I was first on scene almost 2 months ago when a girl in front of me flipped her Explorer into the ditch right in front of me.

Wow that's a HUGE tornado...
It's supposed to be 250 decibels in the center of a tornado...

Yeah, I nailed her on the way to the hospital while she had a severe back and neck injury...
No, I didn't hit it. Something about seeing a girl pinned inside a rolled over vehicle just turns me off. She was hot tho. Hope she was ok.
