Has my cultivation gone wrong?

I currently have 5 pf tek cakes and a shotgun fruiting chamber. They've been in there for about 2 and a half weeks now and have suddenly turned black. Is this blackness a sign that they have gone bad? Should they be tossed out? What would cause them to turn black so I don't make the mistake in the future?
I can post a picture if necessary as well.

Here's a picture.
Colonized in half pint jars for a little over a month (maybe a little too long?). Transfered to a shotgun terrium which I misted and fanned 2-3 times a day. They started to turn black a couple days ago. I think it may be because I was out for almost a full day and didn't fan or spray them . This is my first grow so if anyone could give me some insight it would be greatly appreciated?
Would anyone try to salvage the ones that haven't turned totally black yet?

You might have let them go dry and they bruised blue like a mofo...but if you got black mold on your cakes damn thats nasty. I live in a room infested with black mold so i stay in a tent outside and do my growing in my room sadly...still yet to see any black mold contams. That shits deadly.
Post pics...i cant imagine them going dry and bruising if you soaked your perlite real good and mist 2-3 times a day. If its black mold omg...thats nasty ..toss it, clean, and start over.

Spore...time to pick your fruits is all. Pick them just as the veils are breaking. If you don't have noticeable veils or they tore early (like with PE) then you need an experienced judgement call.

I dont use any heat because i figured it would degrade them. I simply just put them under a screen or something so no hair or dust gets on them and i blow a fan on them on high for 2-3 days until they "dry enough" and a fan wont dry them anymore.
After the fan for a few days they are mostly dry but still have some moisture in them that a fan alone cant remove. Thats when i put them into an airtight butter container with "Damp Rid" for 2-3 days. Or i guess any other type of desiccant until they are cracker dry.
I dont know which way would degrade them more...the heat or the fan.

I just fan them a few days then toss them onto a screen in a bin with desiccant. Works like a charm.
