I love that a bunch of "constitutionalists" are making an issue of the president's physical place of birth.
John McCain wasn't born in America and neither was George Washington
Ann Dunham was born in Wichita kansas. She's an american and therefore her child is an american
it absolutely doesn't matter, legally, if he was physically born in kenya.
So watching a bunch of ignorant racist republicans argue about something that only matters if you a) don't understand the constitution and b) are a racist is kinda funny.
I, for one, am watching the crazy unfold with popcorn in my lap.

Was it? Don't ignore the fact that what we know publicly about his SAT scores is that they shouldn't have been anywhere near Columbia strength, much less Harvard Law. And, as has always been true of the Ivies, it's harder to get in than to get through.
We do? What were his SAT scores?

Well now that I've taken the after-work-bong-rip, I'm not as worked up as I was when I read this story earlier today.
It's just kind of amazing to sit back and see what actually makes the news these days. Did people pull this kind of crap back in the early days when grover cleveland was president? I'm betting some people probably tried to, albeit on a smaller scale and without the benefit of instantaneous national media.
Maybe, as a group, we've always been this foolish? Is it in our culture?

We know they were not high enough to qualify as a National Merit Scholarship finalist since that list is public and he isn't on it, unlike myself, my daughter and my stepson. Nor was he an "Outstanding Participant", a somewhat lower accolade. That gives us a ceiling for what his scores could possibly be and they aren't very good. At most they are OK but absolutely nowhere near genius, as he has been sold, or, absent diversity perversions, anywhere close to the threshold necessary to be accepted at either Columbia or Harvard Law.

SAT scores aren't the only qualifier for school admission whatsoever, though. Re national merit finalists: inclusion in that is not automatic to everyone over a certain SAT threshold, you have to take a specific pretest for it. Also, as far as I know, there's not actually a comprehensive list of every finalist/awardee out there

1. I know SATs aren't the only criteria. I also know they are a big one. There are people with perfect SATs who don't get into the Ivies. Hence my suspicion about how he got in. If he wasn't even an Outstanding Participant, well, what the fuck?
2. PSAT/NMSQT when he was in school. I know because I took them. I don't know anybody who didn't take them before the SAT.
3. From what the article said every Finalist and Outstanding Participant, whatever that was, was published. Hell, back then they posted my and everybody else's SAT scores on the bulletin board. Back in the day there was this scam going on called "Who's Who in American High School Students". They got a list of every high scoring kid and put their names in the book then tried to get them to buy the book. It didn't matter if you bought the book, you're name was still in it. http://www.amazon.com/Among-American-School-Students-1973-1974/dp/0915130033 I'm in it.
I just don't think he's all that bright.

All the info I've read on the national merit scholarship says its for the PSAT not the SAT itself... I didn't even take the PSAT and scored quite well on my SAT's and never heard anything about being on some national merit scholarship thang...

I'm about the same age as Barry. I didn't know anybody who didn't take the PSAT/NMSQT test and I went to a private school just like Barry. Everybody took the PSATs. There were no exceptions and they just qualified you as a semifinalist if you did well enough. You had to do well on the SATs to be a finalist and you had to jump through hoops to actually get a scholarship.
Occidental? If he was such a good student why did he go that ridiculous dump.
I'm sorry but I'm sick and fucking tired of all these sycophants telling me this guy is so smart when A. He has never done anything except get a job in his life and B. They aren't qualified to judge a turnip's intelligence.

Im not sure why you think its difficult to get into Columbia. Now Harvard Law school is damn hard to get into and very difficult to do well in. You are confusing Harvard undergrad with Harvard Law. Harvard undergrad they practically hand you good grades. Harvard Law is fiercely competitive and rising to the top 33%+ is extremely difficult.
Also, the SAT's? seriously? What a useless test

Good point private schools likely had all of their students take PSAT's (unless the school leaned towards ACT's as mine did..not especially likely).
The indirect evidence is there... but who knows, Id guess his IQ is around 120-130~.. certainly smart, but not a genius by any definition.

Obama went there a long time ago when 76% of the students graduated with honors. It is much easier to get through it than it is to get in it, unless..........Quote:

Bullshit. They are an excellent predictor of college success and about as good an IQ test as there is.

I thought the SAT's blew compared to the ACT's... my score was an equivalent of ~300 points higher on the ACT than the SAT... both are accepted by mensa and other organizations in place of IQ tests but each seems to cater to a slightly different style of thinking.
