Stalled Cake 10-15% colonized in sterile straw/rye mixture
    #1436679 - 04/07/03 03:51 PM (21 years, 5 months ago)

I have one cake in a Mason jar.... the leftover from a kit... the kit had rye grains fully colonized and you had to boil straw, cool it... add together let it sit....  Had (gone now)  :frown: a full 2ftx1ft 8inch deep box fully colonized, in under month... the leftover I stuck in a mason jar it isn't infected with anything... I've never opened it since I put it in... Originally packed tight...... wasn't growing so I shook it up its kind of loose now..... Question is I want to get this whole thing colonized and make a outdoor plot. How can I make this thing colonize?

More moisture?  (it doesn't have droplets in it no more.... )

More heat?... its just room temp... I'd say 20c/65-68F

**Note the mason jars been its been exposed to light... lots of light... ***

the stuff in the kit that colonized so quickly I'm guessing did it because there was so much... still warm kept heat and was not exposed to light at all.***

The mason jars just has sterile straw... and colonized rye on a 1 to 10 ratio. Basically next to no new grow has been seen since it was first put in the jar... maybe 2-3%... is  almost dead.... ANY IDEA'S? or is there a another notable thread/FAQ? I've searched nothing that addresses my issue.

Please help...  thx

has it halted growth altogether or just slowed? to pick up the pace of growth raise temp to 84-86, but definitly not above 95! (106 will destroy cells)

"A human being is part of a whole, called by us the Universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separated from the rest--a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty."
