Does this make sense?
    #14366161 - 04/28/11 10:35 AM (12 years, 10 months ago)

Im preparing to do my first ever bulk grow, just basic cubes EQ, and just wanted to make sure what I plan on doing made sense.

1) Prepare 6 Quart WBS jars almost exactly as in 6Tango's Tek (using syringes, not G2G)
2) Wait to incubate (70-75 F)
3) Birth to a monotub, substrate is Coir/Gypsum/Spent coffee. , in closet that is normally kept at 70-75F. Fan will be pointed in to closet to allow FAE.
4)Let monotub run its course, harvest, see if a second flush might happen.

I think the overall plan is pretty solid, I've done a fair amount of reading, however, I'm slightly worried about the bulk substrate, and also, I'm not sure exactly how much of it I will need. Is about 4inches evenly spread over the container a good amount?

Also, should I case a monotub, and if so, with what? I've read mixed things about this.

I'd leave out the coffee.
And pointing a fan into the closet really isn't optimal, your mom will notice that for sure.

Not optimal in terms of FAE or privacy?

Both of us living in the house know what's going on, and if we have guests, we can move the fan.

If it's a FAE problem, could I do something like mount a CPU fan directly to the tub (blowing out), so air is forced in through the polyfill?

Both. Can you just put it out in the room?
You don't want the fan pointed at the tub, that won't work. The fan moves air around in the room.
You might also consider a hybrid MSG tub, you get better airflow in some conditions. But still a closet isn't great.

Room is a bad option. Both bedrooms have very limited floor space, and we'd rather not have to use any public spaces for security reasons.

The closet is a walk in with a 4 foot wide doorway (without a door). I think the airflow in there, with a fan, should be about as good as anywhere else in the room.

well if the closet is shallow and doorless than it shouldnt hinder airflow too much.

but dont point fans at tubs.

Agreed^^^.
If the door is open all the time, just have a fan in the room on a timer, not pointed at the closet.

Any opinions on to case or not, and if so, with what?
