safe vibes to anyone living in the southern US
between the australia floods, japan earthquakes, and 200 deaths from tornadoes in one night... our planet's got some angst

I don't know that it's that the planet angst, but it does have a lot of media coverage.
No for reals though, those tornadoes were insane. I grew up in the south and only remember maybe three or four F4 or F5 tornadoes in 20 years. They had several in one day, that's just nuts. I think the only thing that came close were the storms that hit GA in the spring of 96 (I think?).

as much as it pains me to see the suffering people are going through in these natural disasters, the media coverage is outstanding. the fact that i can watch something like the japan tsunami happen in basically real time is incredible. although i wish the news outlets were a bit more interested in reporting the facts than using hyperbole and speculation to scare people

What do you expect when people who know nothing about the details of a complex scenario report on said scenario and inadvertently interject a bit of opinion?
It's called the Chinese whispers, people report on reports and slowly the message gets twisted and misinterpreted and then the twisted misinterpreted report gets twisted and misinterpreted and the deadly cycle continues.
By 2100 I fully expect the Godzilla movies to be completely absorbed into the fukushima disaster.
...forgot this was a tornado thread, yeah the weather has been shit in the mid west too. Lambert airport got hit by a tornado as well as some rich suburbs in Bridgton.
Crazy stuff, if I had left work late on Friday I might have had the chance to see the tornado that hit Lambert.
