They appear to be Gymnopilus junonius, if they are indeed bruising could you take photos and post them please.  They are generally considered inactive in Aus but if the ones you have are bruising they could be worth looking into.

That does not look like bruising, not sure what it is though.

But... I will not be picking these subs.... why? Cos they are dusty and right near this little road full of dust and rocks, dont wonna be eating dirt and other impurities. I see half of the shroomites going "dude wtf???" lol I know much nicer sub patches in the pristine bush environment and they grow shit loads there.

By the way, I have noticed that the subs in the suburbs have already started blooming while the bush ones are barely showing up.

Can all the pollution in the inner city cause mushrooms to grow and germinate quicker?? My bush patches are barely growing... need to wait till like end of May for big harvests.

My theory is that they could possibly metabolise pollutants.

Mushrooms have been known for their environmental benefits ie. metabolising radioactivity in chernobyl and also breaking down oil.

It is all too possible that maybe shrooms live for polluting themselves just like we do.

6 ways mushrooms can save the world

Yeah I just started reading Paul Stamet's Psilocybin mushrooms of the world. I've already learnt a few things just from the introduction. He explains how mushrooms pop up right after some form of land destruction/manipulation, such as landslides or man-made ornamental gardens and how mushrooms grow in equilibrium with the human condition. Perhaps all these early shrooms popping up is a message that there's too much destruction?

Hey guys!
I went on my 2nd hunt last night and came up with this:

They all seem to be bruising blue. Are these subs?

Yes. You should be putting your pics in an ID Thread though, rather than in the melbourne feed.
Pics posted here are usually just for bragging rights.

Went for a day long wander around Yarra bend park the other day - found nothing but Amanitas, and deep red mushrooms growing in woodchips. I looked in garden woodchips, bush, wetter bush, everywhere haha

I'm gonna have to keep trying I guess - very different to hunting for cubes. Looking for cubes is as easy as looking for something bright in the grass. It's either a cube (most likely), a leaf, an old cow shit (usually containing cubes) or a snake.

Haha.. dude.. I literally just got back from a walk through Yarra Bend Park... pretty much found nothing.  RAIN THIS WEEKEND though, and I found SO many good potential locations.  Something's bound to sprout!!

really public parks are generally not so good, as they are usually sprayed. you want to look for less populated smaller parks, or further out from suburbia and into the forrest where there wont be any council workers or maintenance being done to the areas.

Ohhh yeh, giving up on the shrooms in previous photos as the spoor print was a rusty colour which i heard is no good however, went for a ride down to the creek this arvo and found hundreds of caps scattard everywhere. First real hunt only took 10 mins soo happy. Just got to them in time I think have had a few warmish days in a row and some were dying.

They look good, but it's hard to tell from that pic... make sure they all bruise blue.

So that is bruising after all?  That's pretty cool, I thought it was something else all together.

i used to wake up at 5-6am, an hour or so earlier then when i had to be at uni or work, and go picking in the morning. It's great. I'd get to my spots just as the sun was rising. Awesome 30 min bike ride watching the sun rise, picking in complete serenity. Still arrive at work on time and everything. it's great.

That actually sounds pretty darn spectacular!  Now I'll see if I have the discipline to get up that much earlier...
