@lukefish: They're all subs. Make sure they bruise Blue and have Purple/Brown spore prints.

Also make yourself aware of mushrooms in the genus Galerina. They're deadly. Look at the link here to see good pictures of how similar they can look to subs.

ahh yea thats definatly a thread to keep an eye on thanks

Went hunting today, came up blank... until I decided to call it quits, and immediately found myself surrounded. 400g later and it was home time. Printing now, pretty sure they are subs (plenty of blue/black bruising).

:super: just make sure they all bruising... one of those stems looks a bit dark.

Hey guys!
I went on my first hunt last night in the Eastern Suburbs for a few hours and came up with nothing but a bunch of sub lookalikes.
Can anyone hint me towards an area in the eastern suburbs at all?
Any help would be appreciated.

I'd say learn more about the mushrooms and where they like to grow and keep searching. Stumbling across your first patch after searching and searching is a sweet feeling.

Hey everyone, been studying this thread for the last week now and im lucky i did, i didnt relise how many look-a-likes there were out there i was about to chop my finds last week. lucky i didnt.

anyway im grate full for all the information givin on this thread but was wondering whats the best way to transport your mushrooms after finding them? i know paper bags but do they need to stay as undamaged as possible to keep there potency?? because Ive always just chucked them in a bag but now im thinking i could take a little more care.  thanks all...

and is it still worth hunting even after 4 days of sun?? i didnt think it was but this season is full of suprises.

another small harvest from my own patch, seems alot of them are getting attacked and this seems to be stunting there growth. i might try the beer trick.. sacrifices have to be made

From personal experience, what I've read, and assuming on general knowledge, the way you treat the mushrooms after picking makes no difference to their potency. What could happen is that the more broken up the mushrooms are, the quicker they could dry out thus reducing the levels of psilocin. This then comes down to whether you prefer dry or fresh mushrooms. Personally I prefer fresh mushrooms, and I prefer not eating a handfull of mush so I take care when placing mushrooms in a bag and transporting them. Let's see what others have to say.

Wow, people are finding such epic shrooms...
I went to the spot where I got mine last time and took a few pics.

I only picked one today as a lot are still really small compared to everyone Else's.

I also found some 'posers' a few meters away. By posers I mean imposters.

This is the area where they have been growing for me.

Jesus I have such a relaxed and fun time just going out and looking for shrooms.

Went hunting today in a park near my work around Malvern area. I saw some subs growing there last year.

Low and behold:

But... I will not be picking these subs.... why? Cos they are dusty and right near this little road full of dust and rocks, dont wonna be eating dirt and other impurities. I see half of the shroomites going "dude wtf???" lol I know much nicer sub patches in the pristine bush environment and they grow shit loads there.

By the way, I have noticed that the subs in the suburbs have already started blooming while the bush ones are barely showing up.

Can all the pollution in the inner city cause mushrooms to grow and germinate quicker?? My bush patches are barely growing... need to wait till like end of May for big harvests.

Also what are these mushrooms?

And this one looks toxic like a death cap or destroying angel?

SirShroomsAlot the red/orangy ones are Stropharia aurantiaca.

Dont eat those, they are poisonous. They often have fungus growing on them and look revolting, just wait a month or two...

My theory is that they could possibly metabolise pollutants.

Mushrooms have been known for their environmental benefits ie. metabolising radioactivity in chernobyl and also breaking down oil.

It is all too possible that maybe shrooms live for polluting themselves just like we do.

Hey all, just getting into all this and have a quick question. Is there a difference between black brusing and blue? I found a patch of shrooms growing in the backyard that I would have originaly said wern't active however they bruise a lot. I took pic's and posted beow. The are a yellow/orange but the colour is consistant (doesn't get dark in the middle and light around the edges like most pic's i have seen) also these ones are quite large (over 50mm wide) any tips appriciated.
