A scary quote.
    #14365175 - 04/28/11 04:19 AM (12 years, 9 months ago)

"There is nothing to fear but fear itself."

And, he forgot to add "...and Nazi's."

Plus road-rage, STDs, the IRS, knock-less warrants, high cholesterol, drive-by shootings, the ban stick, your girlfriend's jealous ex, hail the size of softballs, tsunamis, earthquakes, tornadoes, pit bulls, gamma-ray bursts, home invasion, stroke, cancer, falling in the bath tub, getting carried over Yosemite Falls, Lyme disease, ebola, TB, flesh-eating bacteria, Asian drivers, mad cow disease and sink-holes.

But mostly fear of fear.

I have realized that I often feel afraid that I will be afraid at some future placetime.

i think the point is, animals dont fear all that shit, its humans ability to think about the future that causes most of our fear.

What does fearing any of the things listed above actually achieve? Taking steps to avoid them makes sense but doesnt have to come from a state of fear does it?

Pointless fear which achieves nothing can be quite debilitating and I think that is what the quote is getting at.

i think fear is a natural phenomenon of being human. accepting and overcoming this "illusion" of fear is akin to accepting life, or the will to live authentically as a conscious and autonomous person.
