wtf? white strandy (worms) extremely TINY things forming strands!?!
    #14363692 - 04/27/11 09:23 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

ok so i checked one of my substrates, and i thought i saw strands of mycelium move. upon intense focusing on the material i saw it was moving! it looked like barely visable worms but the weird thing is i noticed them apart from substrate completely, on the walls on the terrarium. these were largely unmoving but they would occasionallu stir, and whats weird is they appeared to be forming strands. the ones in the substrate were more activly squigiling. well about 10 hours later i looked at the terr. and the strands of "things" had indeed grown out and in places couldnt be distinguised as individuals? what the FUCK is this?

Could be roundworm, ringworm, tapeworms, do you use a poo sub most parasitic worms have a larval stage where they are protected from elements, the could have hatched after you pasteurized your sub and now they are tripping. You gotta watch those wigging balls tape worms sometimes they like to find a nice warm butt crack to rest in at night...

I'm just kidding, that is really quite disturbing, I saw bugs crawling out of and all over my skin before when I took a whole bottle of sleeping pills. Just thinking about it makes me cringe, now I am going to be looking at my shrooms for them :ugh:

if an insect got into your substrate and laid eggs, or you didnt pasteurize your poo, it could be some kind of grub/larva

Protip: email pictures to yourself then save them out of email onto your computer so you can post pics here. Or, you know, plug the cable in and transfer straight from iTunes.

Could it be fruit fly maggots, would they eat myc or lay their eggs on it for the larva to eat?

I know that there must already be maggots in all bananas because if you let them sit for long enough the fruit flys will appear out of no where.

I breed fruit flies for my frogs and have never had any escaped flies lay eggs in my mushies, and I have the fly cultures next to my tubs so I doubt its fruit fly larvae

ok update..i wanted to wait a little while and post pics from the original date and some ones from today (which i will do when i get home here in a little bit)..the strands of worm like things have grown thicker and whats weirder is that little white vertical things (about the diameter of a pin) and about a cm high that appear to be made of the thing have sprouted out of the top of the substrate everywhere..there is also a film of the material all around the sides of the tub..still movement apparent in the smaller strands with the occasionally wiggly popping in and out of the thick strands..i read some type of nematode can become matter and strandlike, however i reaf nothing about them forming unsuppported vertical structures like i have out of my substrate?
