Two legalize presidents in one year

Anyone notice there are two candidates taking a stab to run for office this year who want to end the war on drugs?
Seems pretty heady to me. Don't know if any them will win, but I think it's a sign of whats to come.

Ron Paul seems pretty sincere to me. I like how even though he claims to be against things he realizes that it doesn't mean it should be illegal.

Really? I don't see what benefit is in it for him to go against the popular vote of keeping drugs illegal.
I think what most politicians do is say these promises that they acutally believe in at the time, then they get elected to the presidency and realize "wholly fuck I don't know what I'm doing!". Things look a whole lot different from "higher" up.

Definitely, but I don't think he's bullshitting about legalizing since it's pretty much part of his campaign. I mean, not even Obama was campaigning to decriminalize or legalize.
Can we trust him? I don't know but I don't think campaigning to legalize weed is the easiest show to run. I don't think he would make such an issue out of it if he was full of it.

Ron Paul
Quote:
Q: In your 1988 campaign you said, “All drugs should be decriminalized. Drugs should be distributed by any adult to other adults. There should be no controls on production, supply or purchase for adults.” Is that still your position?
A: Yeah. It’s sor of like alcohol. Alcohol’s a deadly drug, kills more people than anything else. And today the absurdity on this war on drugs has just been horrible. Now the federal government takes over and overrules states where state laws permit medicinal marijuana 1 for people dying of cancer. The federal government goes in and arrests these people, put them in prison with mandatory sentences. This war on drugs is totally out of control. If you want to regulate cigarettes and alcohol and drugs, it should be at the state level. That’s where I stand on it. The federal government has no prerogatives on this.
Q: But you would decriminalize it?
A: I would, at the federal level. I don’t have control over the states. And that’s why the Constitution’s there.

both are for legalization, but i think I might vote for Johnson if he gets the GOP spot only because he would have a much better chance of winning than a 3rd party runner

Kind of stoned but I think after he did not get the republican nod did he just become a write in canidate.

i doubt Johnson nor Paul would change their tune.
They arent backed by corporations, dont seem to have ties to the drug war complex, and unlike previous presidents they are on file claiming multiple times the benefits of legalizing, i honestly doubt they're just trolling the public.

They all change their tune.
It takes $1 Billion to win a presidential campaign nowadays and you don't get there without owing a lot of favors to huge special interests.

annyways. There is no way to prove this but Ron Paul clearly stands for legalization. He isnt a puppet for some corporation because if so he'd probably be spewing the same shit all the other canidites are spewing

And It would probably take 350 million if its someone who noone has ever heard of before, but Paul wouldnt likely have to spend that much

Obama spent between $650-750 million. Check out this article:
http://m.npr.org/story/133809150?url=/2011/02/18/133809150/2012-the-year-of-the-billion-dollar-campaigns
But regardless, The fact that we have 2 legalization candidates is a positive sign of what's to come. But it will only come from the bottom up IMO.

I say everyone should go with paul regardless. He's been saying the same thing for like 30 years, and everytime he runs there seems to be another guy regurgitating what Paul as said forever, just to try and steal the votes.

if you think Ron Paul would change his tone, check his voting record, you won't find much dirt on him, if any. I mean they call him Dr. NO because he votes no on so many federal bills. Many times he is the only guy that votes no in the house. he doesn't follow the crowd abd he's proven he can't be bought.
