Just a thought

Has anyone heard about Walmarts price match guarantee? Well if not, its a new service Walmart offers that allows shoppers to bring in any stores advertised price for an item which will Walmart will then match. Now we all know Walmart is a pretty powerful corporation and that they're presence will surly allow people to spend less money on goods, but also put an end to other local businesses in the area. With this new price match strategy it seems like small town businesses stand even less of a chance because now any item they advertise the low price for will be matched by the Walmart superpower. This is frightening to me because it makes aspects of the fiction comedy "idiocracy," feel somewhat like a prediction as opposed to an object of just strictly a comedic scenario, because with a lack of competition Walmart will be able to drive up they're prices slowly and begin expanding to an even greater market of sales. It was recently brought to my attention by a coworker of mine that if such a thing were to happen then someone could take out a loan and open a smaller locally owned store with prices much lower then Walmart, but this theory has many flaws. Firstly, because if a competitor were to open a local store then Walmart could then undercut them again quickly putting them out of business and leaving the owner/investors with quite a lot of debt. Secondly, because after a few stores go under attempting to undercut Walmart people would not want to risk losing everything trying to compete knowing what the outcome will surly be.
Maybe I'm just over thinking it all?

Basically, walmart is so cheap because they are large enough to work out deals with wholesalers and shipping companies.
The only way to beat their prices, that I have thought of, is to start a non-profit version of their store that uses the non-profit business model, which includes lower management pay, grant funding, tax breaks, etc. That way one could beat their prices. But no one's gonna get rich off that idea, because non-profits dont make profit, and their CEO pay has to be "reasonable."
So yeah, that's what you are looking at there as far as I can tell.
