I have some jars colonizing, and I'm planning on a monotub. All I could get is a mixture of coir/perlite. Would that work as a sub?

Yea, same issue here, but only in the off-season. During spring and summer you can find vermiculite at nearly every Lowes/Home Depot in my area. Fall and winter its nowhere to be found. No problem ever finding perlite though.
OP, you can just use straight coir if you want. I wouldn't add perlite though. Shop around though, you're bound to find vermiculite somewhere.

No dudes, I do have verm. I am gonna use it also. But the only coir I could find was mixed with perlite, so my question is, is it o.k. to use it as a substrate?
I couldn't find any clean coir, so if the perlite is a nuisance, all I could do is pick it out by somehow..

Why do you think so? What about the perlite you use for humidity in your FC? What's the difference between the two?
And I am gonna pasteurize it before use..

No mixture of coco-coir and pearlite is necessary. If you're coco-coir is at perfect field capacity you should have plenty of moisture. I just recommend you use straight coco-coir and no additives.

coco mixed with perlite is intended for potting soil as a replacement for peat moss. It sometimes is fortified with trich. Coir fortified with trich can be nasty even after pasteurization. That's why you should be hesitant to use it.

I guess I wasn't very clear.. I didn't do it on purpose. That's how I bought it. Coir mixed with perlite. Because it's the only thing I could find.
Well since I couldn't really get an unequivocal answer I'll try it anyway because my jars are consolidating and I won't be able to find anything else anytime soon. Thanks anyway.

Just check the package to see if it's trich-enriched/fortified. It would say.

Haha. Thanks bra. :-).
O.K, but has anyone tried it before and failed, or is it in theory that it won't work?
Please be serious for a sec..

many a noob has put perlite in their sub. It won't hurt in the least. It's inert.
