Then I explained to him that within 80 or so pages was 5 years of research, over 100k in grant money, 3 senior author papers, 2 secondary authorships, and a contract for a fellowship at one of the top 5 medical research institutions in the country.
Then I asked him what he accomplished in his 250 page thesis.

Same general field. But yeah, that was my point. It's not always about length.

I'm doing one on the Franco-Prussian War now.
That's a pretty fun subject.
I have a Geophysics degree, but I have a European History minor. History is by far my favorite subject, but I could never teach, since I know how I treated my teachers.
But yeah, Franco-Prussian War FTW! Napoleon (Not The Good One, LOL), and Moltke, and Paris, Oh My!
I'd love to see your paper after you write it. You certainly don't have to, but I love shit like that. And I'm sure you have things in hand, but if you need any help, let me know...

SprewellSleeve -
The whole point of writing short papers is to teach you to do a bit of research and then organize and articulate your ideas. If you take it somewhat seriously, you'll get something out of the experience. It will make you a more effective person in the long run to have good communication skills, whether you're dropping stuff into a fryer or flying rocketships to the moon. (But especially if you're flying rocketships to the moon...nobody wants to read the journal of the ill-fated rocketship pilot that never fucking learned to write)!
