Confirmed -- psilocybe ovoideositidiata.
I found a spot with tons of these beauties today in northern ky between Cincinnati and Louisville on my second shroom hunt.
They've been sitting for hours but the print is still really light but definitely brown- purple at this point.
------------------------------- Description
cap: Umbonate to convex possibly campanulate. The dark ones are really wet.
gills: rusty or brown, adnexed to adnate.
stem: white, hollow, blue bruising on outside lair.
location: On edge of woods in woodchips with alot of patchy grass in the ohio river floodplain.

i wouldnt call foes worthless. there are reports that they can be psychoactive and there are other reports that they contain signifcant amounts of seratonin and will help ease the comedown off of psilocybin containing mushrooms.

Keep the spore prints - you'll be able to trade for them. Nice work.

lol, ya the big one was just one i picked wasn't even considering that one. But, I've googled all the actives from my area and done quite a bit of research on them.
The description matches ovoids. However, it is the colors and pattern on the caps (minus the bluing) that is making me skeptical.

Some guys have all the luck. I mean setting out to find psychedelically worthless pan foes and returning home with a bag of ovoids misidentified as pan foes really takes the cake.

Sorry if I was unclear, I meant that i was searching for oviods and thought i found foes.
I was disappointed when i saw the spore print wasn't black. lol
The rest will be gone tomorrow, or probably now because the Ohio is about to overtake them. I bet there will be alot a few weeks after it recedes though.

Why would the spore print be black?

Because, I didn't consider they were ovoids. I initially thought they were subbs. So, i was looking for a black spore print.

Serotonin that is ingested can't ever make it to the brain.
Panaeolina castaneifolia is the only Panaeolina that is known to blue.
The mushrooms pictured are Psilocybe ovoideocystidiata without a doubt.

IIRC, it's not so much serotonin that's supposed to be present in pan. foes, but its precursor 5-HTP, which has been suggested to be (theoretically/potentially) convertible into serotonin by the body. To the best of my knowledge, evidence that this actually occurs is absent. Personally, I have used 5-HTP preparations for a couple of months in the past, but didn't observe any effects whatsoever.
