Official PNW Edible Mushroom Hunting Season 2011
Tradition says, I would kick off the thread by posting some sweet finds, this year I thought I would mix it up and give someone else the opportunity.
This is going to be an awesome year for hunting and I wish everyone the best this year.
~Happy Hunting

I don't think you are supposed to open up "official" threads without photos.

Nice shots Psylo Love the oyster log. Wish I had some pics to add. Maybe I'll stop by my local park tomorrow and snap a few. Figured oysters would be out in the wild by now, my first basket just started fruiting on suday.
-------------------- Having lived through an existence close to nature, one accepts the small and simple things as most important in life. Sun, wind, rain and snow. The sounds birds make, smells of fresh wild flowers. Love of all kinds, from friends and family, thy self and our neighbors. Beautiful sunrises to the darkest clouds dancing above in the sky. To forgive, learn, share and express. This is the only thing a man such as myself can ask for. What comes as the result is nothing short of the core of human existence, to truly live free in body and mind.

my legendary patch of winecaps , Stropharia rugusoannulata , is fruiting as well as one of my homemade garden patches. this is pretty early for garden giants tho.
i think i got a mild poisoning from them last night tho. stomach ache and tap ass at night and the morning and then just a kinda quizy stomach all day. stamets warns this about them but i swear i ate them at least 20 times last year and had and didnt see anyone have any problem at all.

It's still early IMO. I dont Start having frequent edible finds until late august at the earliest. I'm holding tight till sep. If we get adequate rain sep is going to be killer with this really late/wet summer. I'm really glad someone finally made a PNW edibles thread.

I had a few Princes a couple weeks ago and a bolete Have heard rumors of some chantrelles are out, though looked last weekend and found none
Looks to me that things are slow till the next real rain...
Happy Hunting!

In my neck of the PNW we haven't gotten any rain in 3 weeks. So until we get some more mushroom hunting is kinda dead. I have found some mushrooms up in the cascades where the sun isn't so intense but pickings are very slim.
