Lophs - Need some help from the community

Hi Everyone,
Long time troll here, recently acquired a pot full of Lophs from a friend that moved out of the area and left them behind.
At this point they're not looking as well as I would expect. I challenged him when he told me what they were, simply because I had never seen Lophs so elongated and oddly shaped. Seems after doing some research that it's possible that the poor conditions have contributed to their health and growth...
Can I get some feedback from those of you that may have dealt with this before, and some advice on how to correct the environment and give these puppies a long and happy life?
They're currently in a terra cotta pot, about 8" deep x 8" across. The soil is definitely not cacti soil, but rather something that resembles cocoa coir, with some other components. I believe these need better medium as a starter, and would appreciate any thoughts there.
I have them on the kitchen counter, which is receiving a filtered morning sun, with decent light for the remainder of the day, but no direct sunlight.
Please take a look at the photos below (hope I got them uploaded right), and let me know what you think...
Thanks!

Whoa never seen lophs that stretched before. They definitely look healthy judging by the color but they need much more light.
There's no way to correct what has already grown, but more light will make them start growing nicer in time. At least 6-8 hours of direct sun a day.
Some look like they might be pupping, so as long as you get them in a better area the new growth will do much better.

Thanks for the comments Turtle...
Yes there are a couple of pups cropping out of the tops, so that's surely a good sign.
I was thinking of putting them under a CFL lamp 6500k bulb for 16-20hrs/day, since we're approaching Summer hours anyhow. I can run that through the Summer months, and then bring them back into shade and let them go dormant for the Winter. I have a 400w HPS, but from what I can tell they wont like the direct high-power lighting, so hadnt planning on going that direction.

those have to be the weirdest and strangest lophs i have seen.
the color is healthy but they are not.
they are talking to you and saying they need more light. ASAP!
filtered light is best. maybe on a west facing window.
hope that helps. .

They remind me of candles.....
I agree with what turtle_hermit and ferrel have stated.
No need for a light if it's Summer. They will do better under natural light and you may as well use it seeing as it's free.

Like everyone said definitely severely etiolated. However the color especially at the tips is still showing that and there will always be a color defect at that point in the growth. The best way to correct this is to gradually introduce them to more light until you eventually have them in pretty strong light. The tip will essentially form a new button which is readily grafted once the appropriate size. You can also graft the tips as they are now once they green up a little bit if you have access to some pereskiopsis.
If you have some, ~6500K florescents work great at 16-20 hr intervals. You should see some really quick growth with a schedule like that. Maybe 1.5-3 months until the tips become readily grafted buttons depending on other factors.

Out of curiosity did your mate have them under artificial light or what the heck happened here?

I'm not completely sure of the conditions, but I know they were not under any artificial lighting. Probably just not enough natural light...
Thanks for the comments everyone!
