what do you mean by "crashing the Internet?" does your web browser stop responding, or do you get a slow connection, or...

Make sure you update, or think about switching to 'bittorrent'

Dunno if I would switch to bittorrent, but there ARE plenty of alternatives to uTorrent out there.
I use uTorrent and it's never caused me any problems though. Good luck mang.

uTorrent is hands down the best program that's out there, for any OS. My friend runs huge amounts of torrents, and he's managed to make every program, on every OS crash except uTorrent.

I have the same problem. The Internet will just freeze through out all computers in the house when I am downloading something. Kinda annoying, so if I am downloading a lot I just let it sit overnight.

It's probably because either your D/L or U/L settings are too high. If you have your U/L too high, you can't send acks to websites and your ping goes through the roof, and your internet stops working. It's not as bad with D/L, but it can do basically the same thing.

Do you have your ports foreworded correctly?
If so you could be maxing out your connections and crapping out your router.
Try limiting your upload speed to about 1/4 1/3 of your max upload speed.
Max download to about half of your DL speed
If it still happens you are probably going to have to lower your "Global maximum number of connection" & "Number oc connected peers"

I think what you mean is, nothing else can use the internet while utorrent is running, because it's using up all the bandwidth/available connections.
When seeking help for technical issues terminology is important.

If this is the case, then just pause the downloads while you're trying to use the interwebz, or set upload/download rate limits.

And my car runs just fine on filtered vegetable oil, but that doesn't mean yours will because that's super vague.
My core2duo / 3gig ram isn't bogged by utorrent, and I have yet to see another client with smaller filesize, faster install time, less bloat/"offers", more reliable update, or less resource demands.
Of course, any utorrent client (even the fattest) probably will not bog any marginally modern computer down unless there are dumb issues involving promiscuous fingers prostituting your hard drive attached to a brain ignorant of the level of sketch in the downloads.

Also do you have the newest version of uTorrent. Sometime after 2.0 and I have no idea when exactly they came out with a new feature called something I can't remember a feature was implememnted that was supposed to look at the traffic at your computer and make sure it does not slow the internet.
Think i just rambled... Been a few days since I had some good bud. Good luck.

Could be your router. Also as said number of simultaneous connections.
What OS are you running.

You're eating up bandwidth, is all. Limit your download bitrate, you'll be able to run it but things won't download as fast. I'm not sure, but there might be a setting to only run it during certain hours. That's how I do it, load up a couple of torrents, then go to sleep. In the morning, I'm watching all my shows.

Agreeable, I was expecting most people to have halfways decent machines by now.

Vuze is still shitty, and will crash under heavy load for long periods of time.
