I've *tried* unsuccessfully.
You need to have an alcohol tolerance to drink it, which I have little of, because you get drunk as shit before you get any visuals.
I, as you may be able to tell, just got drunk as shit. My friends really seemed to enjoy it though.

Yeah don't believe the hype. I have a bottle that I bought for $120 about 8 years ago when it was illegal to sell in the US. It just tastes like green Nyquil and it gets you drunk. That's about it in my experience.

yeah every time ive drank it, i always approached black out.
basically, it hits you really fast. you feel like you are "sober" but drunk. in other words, you feel like you can talk and think clearly, but your body language is the complete opposit.
i love the stuff, mostly because of the way it tastes, but its a completely different drunk. trying to trip off of it is impossible unless you were born 400 yrs ago

in the early 1800's heavy metals were added to drink in order to make tons of cheap absinthe that still got cloudy when added to water
the metals turned them into crazy fools

Absinthe is amazing and thujone does have its own effects I hate debating with people on this so I will not. Don't listen to them and try it yourself. Don't drink more than 3 shots.
You want to buy the BITTER absinthe's though. Bitter = high thujone content (in europe), 34/35mg thujone per glass. Prepare the traditional way, sugar cube over an absinthe spoon, slowly dripping water, drop by drop.

Absinthe is bullshit. To anyone who has experienced LSD and/or mushrooms and other psychedelics it's just another bottle of hard alcohol. Nothing trippy about it. It's like saying "hey guys, I scored some thyme! Gonna smoke it tonight!" when you are a regular pot smoker.

I even tried making homemade absinthe... it was the most vile liquid I've ever drank, no amount of sugar could get rid of the extreme bitterness, I drank a lot of it, and again, I got drunk as fuck... that's it
your shroom wine sounds like a better idea if you wanna drink something alcoholic that'll make you trip

Try the Suisse verte Clandestine some time, its probably one of the best bottles I have had, though it costs upwards of 70 dollars a bottle. The taste is magnificent, beautiful even

call me crazy, but I actually enjoy the taste of the shit we get on the shelves here quite a bit, as well as the alcohol content, even if it's a bit pricey.
but the homemade shit I made, was fucking awful in the truest sense of the word... even if there were effects other then alcohol, there's no fucking way I'd drink it again.
I even tried making thujone hash after the failed ghettosinthe experiment, total waste of time... all it did was give me a headache... at least it didn't give me any muscle spasms or seizures though :P
it did make weed slightly more intense (definitely not placebo) but still, the headache made it totally not worth it.

Did you actually distill your own absinthe or did you use one of those kits where you make a tea with vodka? Those kits are nasty, real absinthe is distilled.

My buddy imported a few bottles of the real deal last summer.
It's total bullshit. Absinthe is a hard liquor that tastes like black liquorice and asshole that does nothing but get you really drunk.
After trying it I did a load of research and apparantly absinthe was often contaminated with heavy metals that made people go crazy. Wormwood/thujone is said to have minor calming psycoactive effects at best, and based on my experience i'm inclined to agree because I noticed no difference between absinthe and a bottle of vodka other than absinthe tastes about a million times worse.
There is nothing psychedelic this stuff. If you enjoy getting drunk and the taste of black liquorice and open asshole... this drink is for you.

no, didn't distill it... made it with everclear
it was fucking gross
there was no 'kit' either... it was just all lettin these herbs sit in booze for 5 days, then strained.. not sure how I managed to drink as much as I did
even if I distilled it I'm not sure it'd be worth the time really... much rather extract mescaline or DMT instead

You gonna judge a good, distilled absinthe off of some macerated-herb-garbage you made in your kitchen?
Cmon and you thought that would work? the macerated garbage of course...

Absinthe doesnt make you "trip" like many of you might think, but its the best drunk out there
Not worth shipping it to canada, because you really need to shop around and talk to people in prauge to find the good stuff. But, when you get the good stuff and do it right your in for one hell of a night
Its like having the energy of coke, clarity of mdma, and messed upness of tequila all rolled into one. And, some people are more susceptible to minor hallucinations then others (namely girls, i found)
Also, the taste is the last thing on your mind when your taking flaming shooters in the bussling open walkthrough bars in pragues walking streets, but it definetly grows on you fast
I suggest a blacklight show
anyone dissing absinth has no idea what theyre talking about

My mate keeps on bragging that his punch can knock people out after only one hit.
Mine could do that too if I added the same amount of absinthe to it that he does.

I can tell you that it is beyond being drunk and a myth. I just had my first home-distilled product. 2oz Everclear distillate, 6oz water and sugar.
I was feeling great quickly. It was like some dank...perfectly blended with an alcohol buzz...with a slight twist.

Just in case anyone is interested, here is a listing of the 20 "strongest" absinthe's, complete with an actual listing of their respective Thujone amounts.
