Depends what the substrate is and how thoroughly colonized the myc got. You could get some quick fruits or it could take forever and day. Or it might just go south on you. Hard to say.

So whats the sub exactly? How deep are the uncolonized bits? And importantly what's it smell like? Also rub your nuts across the uncolonized bits and the good bacteria will prevent those areas from becoming contaminated.

Nah nothing like that, it's a very slight yellowing and it starts on the tips of the myc, one spot now has three little droplets of an orange yellow liquid, the droplets are about the size of something misted on it, I believe it's metabolites but I've never seen it myself before, also when I looked for yellowing myc I didn't come across anything that made me think of this, I don't think it's a contam I believe it's something happening to my myc but like I said I'm pretty new to this and when I make something it's generally pretty nice so I'm waiting to make a nice fc until I see some results, ya know something to build on and from my understanding this should be atleast a half decent setup but evidently I'm messin something up, damn newbs... Haha

The sub is coir and verm with a little gypsum added, it's 4 inches all together and the uncolonized bits are 1/4" in the deepest it's all together pretty well colonized I only jumped the gun a little, it's been in fruiting going on 9 days now

Also I've been looking out for the smell and I've never gotten any bad signs there, it still smells like it's doing great, just doesn't look as good as I'd like

And so mr helpful your saying it being not 100 percent colonized is causing my problems or are you just saying that for future reference?

Any other tips? Any bets on if I'll get anything? I love this strain I'd like to see somethin nice

being not colonized was def a problem, not necessarily the only one.

But you incubated for only 7 days, which is between 3 and 7 days early roughly. Which means you probably set it back around that same number of days. And normally it's going going to fruit a week after the 10-14 day incubation. So I guesstimate that thing will spit out some sub-optimal fruits sometime around day 28. Today is day 7+9 = 16. So I bet if u nurture that thing, u could see something in 12 days or so.

The word metabolite refers to any secretion the mycelium makes pretty much. Orange is typical of bacterial infection. Little orange spheres are a solid indicator, it's hard to argue against it. It doesn't mean the tub is dead, but it's not encouraging.

And don't say that! That's not what I wanted to hear at all, is there anything to be done at this point or is it time to scrap it clean the fuck out of the room and let the next one colonize till I can't see any brown substrate?

I let it incubate for 10, next time I'll go a solid two weeks before opening it up and checking it out

I told u you might get some meager harvest if u wait long enough. It's just not a sure thing.

Btw it's not a cleanliness issue. It's a procedural issue. Don't go crzy cleaning your house needlessly.

Are you telling him to rub his nutsack against the sub to spread good bacteria?

Yea something like that, and it doesn't look like the knots with the liquid you showed earlier, I mean the liquid is close to that just a little lighter, it's like a sweat coming up from the surface and no knots, I wish I had a better camera so I could show it a little better

are you talking about drops of moisture on the substrate surface that are yellow/golden?

Yea yellow golden droplets with myc that has turned a little yellow, I guess it's closer to the edges but it extends to almost the mid of the tub
