Irie,
Good looking cactus~!
I'm not good on cacti but the tree with red flowers looks like a Erythrina spp.
Respect,
Z

Not a San Pedro, that's for sure.

How is it possible for a cactus to grow in a place where it rains so much?

Why does it have to be "Wild"?  I am sure you can go to your neighborhood nursery and find one.

Trichocereus can take much more water than most cactus. Only certain clones seem to be water sensitive with many bridgesii falling into this category. Honolulu, HI only gets ~19 inches of rain per year on average. That's quite low compared to the native habitats of Trichocereus which can range from ~30-100 in/yr. for the species most common in cultivation. Average rainfall in my climate where they do reasonably well is ~80 inches per year with supplemental watering in all but the driest months.
