Never mind on the last part about the terrarium, I totally forgot about just making a simple shotgun terrarium, so I'll be doing that. One question about it though is after the cakes are colonized, can you just pick the up with your hands? Like can they not get contaminated after that? Or do I still have to be sterile around them.

[url=/forums/showflat.php/Number/11585613#11585613]http://www.shroomery.org/forums Does anybody have a link to a good terrarium that I could make for about $10 or so? That's not including the perlite which I have.
same as the glove box, just put different holes in it(look up shotgun FC). same clear tub

Always wash your hands well with soap and warm water before handling the jars or cakes or doing anything else involving mycology. With that disclaimer, yes you can handle cakes. But gloves are better.

I know that it's cheap to build a glove box, but why should I not use the oven rack? Does it not actually work?

and dont be affraid to get tubs man
youre gonna use em
i stored my myco supplies in the GB, so its not like youll have a bunch of bulky crap layin around
buy similar size shape tubs for all your projects and if you ever have to consolidate its pretty simple

Alright thanks I'll remember that, but can they get contaminated by the air or anything like that? Or as long as my hands are washed am I fine.
I'll probably end up building a glove box anyways, I was just trying to see if there were any ways to get around it.

You are the dirtiest thing in your environment. Wash hands, brush teeth, shower, wash hair, put on clean clothes. You can get cleaner and cleaner and clear if you like.
Clean your work area too, wash everything down with a little warm soapy water, rinse with clean water.

If I'm too lazy to use a can to make holes on the side of the glove box, can I just work with the jars by putting my hands in from the top of the plastic tub?
I bought gallon sized ziplock bags, which I think I'll return and get a refund if this whole large plastic tub thing works better. I mean, Target IS having a sale for large plastic tubs for only 6 bucks each. It beats wal marts whopping 15-30 bucks for a frikken plastic tub.
How do I make the tiny holes in the tub if I do not have a drill?
I have not even received my spores yet and I'm just SOOO excited to grow mushrooms weeeeee!!!
Thanks.
