i have a tray that is pinning but not fully colonized.

Hello. I have a tray of cambodians that is 95% colonized but is already pinning. The only parts that are not fully colonized are around the edges of the tray. Should I cut out the parts that are not fully colonized and put it into my greenhouse or can I just put it in the way it is.

Thanks

Put it in the way it is! Dont cut anything!

really? you dont think the uncolonized parts may be vulnerable to contamination? will the mycelium continue to grow under fruiting conditions?

thanks

cutting away any parts will just expose more substrate, its ready if its pinning, but what substrate are you using?  coir will do that sometimes but its pretty contam resistant itself so fruiting it now shouldnt hurt anything.

look at this thread, his sub wasnt fully colonized at all and hes doing fine.

i am using a mixture of coir, horse manure, chicken manure, worm castings, cow manure and perlite. I will definitely take the advice you guys gave me and fruit it immediately.. Mine definitely seems more colonized than the tray you showed me in the link..

Thanks for the advice

Holy mixture lol... Dont cut nothing away, as stated above you will just expose the substrate fruit it like it is if its pinning. Coir itself is pretty contam resistant, as for the worm castings, i think its a waste of work that can go into some new WBS.
