mold appearing on fully covered cake?

i've got a cake which was working ok and had one fluch but now in the middle of the second one green mold has started growing on it, i was wandering how this can be as i though once a cake was covered in myclinim (spelling) they where resistent to mold?

no they aren't, just more resistant. probably getting weak from stress or something... you might get to finish this flush before it is overrun.

Dont mistake bruising for mold. Many projects have been sent to the trash because of this stupid "if in doubt, chuck it ouit" saying.
the colour of bruising can resemble many different molds, but if its bruising its the colour of the mycelium itself. where as mold is ontop of the mycelium, like a scab.
Fully colinised substrate is resistant to contamination as its colinised all of the food. but it can still become contaminated if not looked after properly. Make sure your fruiting chamber is getting plenty of FAE, contams love to thrive in still stale air.
substrates will also become more likely to contam in the later flushes as the mycelium ages and gets week. With cakes this usually isnt until after the 2nd flush (where yoiu should have most of what a cake would put out anyway)
make sure you are not mistaking bruising for mold. mycelium will sometimes bruise very easily. Ive had cakes bruise really bad from just getting wet from misting.
