Need help figuring out my casing.

Ok. I need to figure out a casing recipe. Here's what I have to work with. I don't plan on buying anything else. I have... organic worm castings, sphagnum peat moss, vermiculite, 1 brick of coir, and some fast acting lime. I need a ratio for some or all of these ingredients. I was planning on not using the lime until i tested the ph of the soil first. Any ideas would be helpful and the sooner the better. Thanks in advance. And this is for brf cakes that i'm planning on cutting in half and casing.

I think that your probably gonna have issues with fast acting lime.

Thanks for the info. I have heard before that spent coffee grounds can sometimes cause contams. What has been your experience?

Yes I have heard with the fast acting you can screw things up. That's why I said I wanted to add that last based on the ph level of the rest of the ingredients. I have a ph meter to help figure things out. I didn't get any info between the 2 posts I got about using the worm castings. I would think that would help with the yield. Any thoughts?

what are yoiu planning on using a casing layer with?? is it bulk substrate, or is it just straight grain.
If you are planning on fruiting bulk substrate, a casing layer isnt really needed.
If yoiu have coir, then save it for bulk. Using it as a casing layer is an old method. Its food to the myc, which sometimes ends up just getting colinised. A casing layer thats fully colinised is no longer a casing layer, and instead part of the substrate.

Thank you for the reply. I have 13 half pint brf cakes dunking right now. I saw a post by the guy who runs the hawks eye site where he said you could take them and cut them in half lengthwise and put them in a casing (I believe that's what he said) in a pan and then put perlite in a container and set the casing pan on top. So that was my plan. I'm looking for yield and I didn't think leaving the cakes whole and just setting them on the perlite would yield as much. So like I said, I have organic worm castings, sphagum peat moss, one brick of coir, vermiculite, and fast acting lime available. I just don't know if i should use all the ingredients or just some of them and in what quantities. I really wanted to use the worm castings for nutes to possibly increase the yield.

if u really want to use all that stuff. crumble the cakes and mix it with pasteurized verm/coir/castings.
Then when it's fully colonized case it with 50/50 mix which is Peat/Verm +a dash of lime.
You haven't fruited these cakes already have you? That would be a non-starter.

That sounds like a plan. How would be the best way to pasteurize that mix? And no they are not fruiting yet. I took them out of the jars last night and they are currently in the dunking process to rehydrate. I just needed a solid plan before I take them out of the water tonight.

You would do a damion5050 bucket tek to make the coir/verm mix. that should also show you how to spawn it. You r just using crumbled brf instead of grain, same procedure.
The casing mix is the classic ryche hawk 50/50+ casing mix tek which you can find in the tek section.
Other interesting reading is fahster's late casing which has a different take on casings.
I personally dont case but it seems you're intent on using this stuff, which i totally understand
oh and btw, if you want to add the ewc (earthworm castings) to the bucket tek, it works out just fine. There's some reading on that subject search for posts by Boozie or check his/her/it's sig for links. He/she/it is a big fan of ewc.

I compost spent coffee grounds and they get contams in 3 days as they air dry before storing. Very fast to contam.
