Vitamin Junky

i have been a mal-nourished Vegan for many years. for the past 2- 2½ years i have been a Poly-Substance user turned abuser turned Addict. the past few weeks have been some of the most sober weeks of my life. im still on suboxone daily for the Heroin, but the Benzo withdrawls are virtually over. my body and brain feels like its lacking, and deficient in many things.
i figure, since i have walked the path of the drug abuser, and the junky. maybe its time to walk the path of the vitamin junky. im really trying to get myself in order, i would like to build my health back up, and to be able to feel good again in my body and brain.
the problem is, i dont know where to begin. or what to start taking for what. many things have been mentioned to me for many reasons, such as B-12, B-6, Melatonin, Valerian Root, theanine and other vitamins & supplements i cant think of at this time. i have also been thinking about taking hemp proteins and other things.
my main issues are, complete loss of appetite, vitamin deficiencies from not eating right, depression, loss of sleep, lack of energy and thats just the tip of the iceberg. i understand, and feel, the lack of vitamins, the addictions, substance abuse and over all just not taking care of myself has taken a toll on my body and mind
does anyone have any experiences with vitamins like B-12 or others..? is it safe to be on many different vitamins / supplements at once? how do you know how they interact with each other?

Just take a good multivitamin daily. Extra vitamin C if you're sick. Simple as that.
I recommend Twinlab DualTabs, but they are pricey.

You dont need to be munching on pills for nourishment, all you need is a good multivitamin like dude said above maybe a AMC mushrooms supplement to boost your immune system by 2000% to stop your ass from getting ill and a good healthy diet with a bit of red meat to get you your iron if your not vegan anymore that is.
Also work out, do cardio every day and a bit of weight lifting every fourth

Yes, a simple multivitamin will do along with some fish oil. Don't depend entirely on supplements to get your vitamins and minerals - eat right and your body will thank you.

This is exactly right and good advice.

thanx for the advice. since im a pill addict anyway i figured it would be pretty easy to work supplements into my daily routine, and mite even fill the void of wanting to take drugs, since i kind of will be taking something in a way.. anyone have any experience with Liquid Vitamins? or Liquid Plant Proteins? i was told the Liquid is absorbed better then the pill supplements since most of those get broken down

Like most people are saying the best thing you can do is avoid the drugs that you know are destructive to your well being, take a multivitamin every day, eat well and exercise. A little meditation here and there is always helpful too.

I currently take; Pea Protein Creatine Phenibut B-12 C Vegetarian Multi Gaba L-tryptophan L-Glutamine D-3 with K-2 spirulina magnesium and zinc
The ones Ive bolded I find to be essential if you dont eat meat because you're diet will naturally be lacking in them. You can get them from other sources too. I phased out l-tryptophan and now get that from spirulina. Sometimes I eat natto to get the K-2.
Watch out with B-6, it's toxic if you have too much.
Pea protein is the best protein you can get if you dont want to do whey (which isnt vegan) and it's much better than soy which isnt the best for you.
Getting everything from your diet alone is trickier when vegan/vegetarian/etc. You only get creatine in meat naturally and it's essential for developing muscle. Things like K and tryptophan can come from other sources but natto can be hard to find (the only vegetarian source of K-2) and tryptophan can come from hummus or spirulina, it helps to regulate sleep and turns into melatonin, 5-htp and seretonin once in the body.

Weed and/or jwh are great for boosting appetite. For a while my appetite was nonexistant when I got clean and sober but if you spend some time being off of everything it will come back eventually and you start gaining weight. I was horrifically underweight but gained like 25 lbs this year. I have an appetite now but when I dont for a while I find cannabinoids are the only thing that really boosts it other than a heavy workout.

yes, its one of the reasons i still have to smoke regularly. the only time i have an appetite at all is for the 10 minutes after i smoke some cannabis. then thats it. other than that i can be anorexic. there is no desire for food. not even a hunger. before i would feel my body was hungry and know i had to eat even though i wouldnt have an appetite. now i dont even feel that. can go all day, with just nothing which i dont cus i kno thats no good. need liquids tho. i have been horribly under-weight for a while now

Yah, it used to be Id go a day or two without eating and Id think "I should probably eat something" and then it was a chore for me.
It takes a while for everything to sorta balance out. Im back to cooking and enjoying meals now though.

In no way do I mean this to sound condescending, but why did you choose to be vegan yet entertain an unhealthy drug regimen?
If you were doing all that other stuff, why not eat some meat?
Seriously though, not trying to be rude if it came off that way.

Sometimes it's not about the health aspect but either A) someone genuinely dislikes the way meat tastes B) they do not like the animal slaughter or factory farming industry C) they do not like the environmental impact of the factory farming industry D) the only way they eat meat is if they kill and dress the animal themselves E) religious reasons
etc, etc, etc
Health isnt the only reason someone will become vegan.
Im not even vegan anymore but I did it for multiple years.

my mum is ṣūfī, i was practically raised vegetarian and traditionally dont eat pork. certain ṣūfī will not eat of anything that is of dead flesh or anything that pertains to death, or the death of an animal. im also lactose intolerant which cuts out most dairy. but i have a weakness for cheese, & yogurt sauces i dont know its been so long since i ate meat, i never really preferred it. im worried i mite get sick if i try to just start eating it
