sitting indian style
    #14344527 - 04/24/11 05:26 PM (12 years, 9 months ago)

I sit on my bed indian style most the day on my computer. Could this cause damage to my knees? After an hour or two of sitting like this it starts to become painful and I have to stretch my legs for a few.

I am mostly wondering if this is going to get worse with time or not?

Maybe ( if you're still growing ) you will grow with your knees perma stuck. So you have to hobble on them like stubs.

This....And my kindergarten teacher used to make all of the kids sit this way, if you didn't you were kicked out of the class and sent to the office (this bitch was a crazy old black lady, she would even hit and smack around kids). Sitting like that as a kid killed my back and knees. I blame her for my back problems.....

I also have a pretty bad posture while on the computer (and in general). I definitely need to start stretching more than I do, get into yoga, and be more conscious about my posture.

you can pinch nerves like sciatic which can cause your legs and feet to go numb and stay numb.
there is also deep vein thrombosis and you can possibly develop blood clots in your legs

I think you're not looking at the real issue here

Which is why are you spending SO much time online that you're now worrying about your lounge posture? go outside man, get some exercise, meet people...

My knees are fucked, and I'm 53. I used to sit like that when I was younger, but I think fearless attitude as a kid caused my problem ; jumpin' out of trees, off roofs, dirt bike crashes, runnin' from the :cop: ... . Here's wishing you the Bees knees with no fleas . . . :peace:

I'm definitely not built for it.  It hurts everywhere if I sit indian style for more than a few minutes.  I had a teacher like that in Kindergarten too, and I wasn't built for it then either.  I should find that bitch and fuck her up.

i fucking had the same problem. i would always try and get a seat next to a wall, or desk to lean on, or just lean my hands back to support myself.

Oh yeah, no doubt my current posture/habits have lots to do with my back problems. But I've had back problems since I was a little kid, as far back as I can remember my back has been fucked.

I've been becoming more aware of my stance and posture trying to keep my back straight, chest outward just a tad, pelvis tucked in a bit...at least compared to how I would usually stand/sit. I know it's going to take some time, but damn how I would love a massage just to work out and relieve all the knots, kinks, and tights muscles I have in my neck and back...Shit is soooo fucked. The bed I sleep on isn't helping either.

Haven't had a massage in 2 to 3 years, ever since me and my lady split....I want one oh so badly, I'll probably borderline start to cry when ever I get one just from the relief :smirk: . Every time I consume LSD or any other sort of substance that can cause muscle tension, I feel every single little knot and tension in my body, it's horrible.
