I bet the final yield ends up ok. I'd try to clone one of the big ones if possible, that's a nice pinset.

Quick question.... Even though the veils broke, you will still be able to re-dunk and get a second flush? I thought that when the sores dropped in told the mycelium to stop producing fruits? If im wrong I will definitely wait for mine to mature more instead of harvesting so early.

Wait for them to mature then pick then dunk and wait for your second flush.
Your mycelium has already produced the maxinum number of fruits it can on that flush it doesn't have anything to do with the spores dropping it won't produce more fruits untill those are picked or they mature and decompose

I might wrap my tub in foil to prevent side pinning. A few knots have already started towards the rim. Thank you for your explanation

Wrapping your tub in foil will actually help side pinning by reflecting light

Your right about light not causing a lot of side pinning and evaporation as a major pinning trigger but I think most side pinning is caused by high humidity trapped between the substrate and grow container they simply pin there because its ideal conditions for them to do so

It's been my experience that it's partly genetic; some substrains are more sensitive to light as a pinning trigger than others.

how did you sterilise the contents of the bin after you filled it? I just can't figure out how you got substrate into a bin, sterilized, then inoculated it.

So tell me if I understand. You filled the bin with brf\verm mixture, then cooked it for 2 hours @176F, let cool for 12 hours.
Repeat 3 times, then inoculate with a MS syringe?

If the container is heat resistant up to 110C, why not just boil at 100C PF-style, since it's BRF? Might save you a step or two.

Well I am currently in the middle of my first grow (brf). It went well, low contamination rate. I'm still fairy new to it all though. I plan to keep growing with what I got.
I was planning on making more cakes from my prints and casing them, but I think I wanna try this. Could I bake the bin in the oven, or do I need one of those cookers?

You really want to use steam. Trust us on this one. The amount of heat you would have to use to properly sterilize using air would be too high. You would bake the edges of the substrate before it became hot enough on the inside, which is something you don't want.
Quote:
The Dry-Heat sterilization process is accomplished by conduction; that is where heat is absorbed by the exterior surface of an item and then passed inward to the next layer. Eventually, the entire item reaches the proper temperature needed to achieve sterilization. The proper time and temperature for Dry-Heat sterilization is 320°F (160°C) for 2 hours or 340°F (170°C) for 1 hour.Instruments should be dry before sterilization since water will interfere with the process. Dry-heat destroys microorganisms by causing coagulation of proteins.
The presence of moisture, such as in steam sterilization, significantly speeds up heat penetration.
