I agree with this, at least in principle. I'm yet to try any subs from a proper forest but I'm looking forward to it.

Same, i think i'll head up to the Yarra Ranges or Dandenong Ranges sometime soon to find the freshest subs. Even though i can find subs in the hundreds just by jumping onto the train for 10 minutes, i think it would be worth getting in to nature. Maybe set up a picnic as well.

Ive never seen subs grow in such clusters in the bush, must be a suburbs thing. In the bush they mostly grow separate or in small bunches... from my observations anyway.

took some photos of my finds drying next to the window.
The mushrooms in the box are the ones i have completely dried. I weighted them before and it comes to exactly 3.5 Grams. the others resting on the paper towels were picked yesterday morning.

Picked a full maccas bag worth today. Nice haul. My old patches aren't fruiting yet, but this one was just down the road and had plenty!
Not great photos (camera phone). Will take some proper ones when I set up my drying chamber again tomorrow

You in America?
They look like Australian subs. Active.
Just dont rip them out with the roots, cut them on the stem or you ruin future growth.

Hi guys, two things.
Firstly, I copy/pasted the template and didn't quite see that last section where the location part is! Melbourne, south east is where I found them.
Second, I'm sorry for posting the images as I did, I'm on the iphone, can't follow the steps on posting images.
Last, thanks for the quick reply!

They do have subs right around the world though, at least very similar species.

Shit, seeing all those photos of patches explodifying makes me weep! I travelled for an hour to check my old hunting ground and found NOTHING. I was pretty devastated, especially as I noted that my guaranteed goodness patch has got other visitors too. The blackberries had been waded through and snapped. Those rat bastards!
Well, I suppose it's for the best, need to find me some local patches anyway.
I brought home some random mushrooms that I found, just to print for fun (loser, I know), then remembered that I recently acquired a microscope. So I spent the afternoon looking at spores and gills.
Cheers gang!

They look 0_o weird under a microscope. They even have little antennae!
