things work different in my experience living here. there is a sort of politics, would i do nothing? NO, but would i call police? No. we have people that look after certain blocks, we usually call them our "Sgt-At-Arms" lol they like that. our block is lucky, and we have 2 of those, and an O.G. that lives across the St. i've lived in this neighbor"hood" for 3-4 years now. we all know each other really well, know our habits etc.., and look out for each other. if anything happens, anything at all i run and tell them. even if someone approaches me on the street. you have to kind of earn your protection by however many years you have resided here. if you just move in, you might not be that trusted and will be outcasted for the first few years. especially now. the blocks have been really hott with the DEA

yeh exactly it sounds like more political bullshit. i moved to the suburbs to escape urban politics. thankfully in the suburbs i never have to worry about calling the cops or getting my car stolen.
im the biggest criminal in town, it's a great feeling to know that.

Seriously OP, what do you think the police will do When you report to them that "I saw a bunch of guys looking in my neighbors house, they didn't do anything b/c I chased them off but here is the license plate of their car"?!?!?!?!

I don't drink often but when I do I become the guy from those commercials. THe coolest man alive or whatever.
I also get drunk to the point where, like what you said OP, I'm just not there..
I can move around and function but I can't pick up other people's energies or feelings towards me. Last time I drank I got jumped by 3 tribal-wanna be tools.
GAHHHH
This game is really getting old.
I want to listen to this song over and over again but DUNNO

i know what you mean. i can totally see where his friend is coming from, when i get really drunk, there is no way you could get me to call the police unless something seriously wrong was happening. regardless, i just re-read the OP (for some reason i thought originally they stole his neighbors car, read the sentences wrong, i think i have dyslexia) they were only looking at the place, it could have been relatives/friends. your friend was drunk, he probably over-reacted anyway and obviously should have just TOLD the neighbors first thing when they got home and asked them if they kno the liscense or the car. i dont think id even call the police if i was sober tbh

I knew this one guy who got so drunk he pissed on my friend's futon/sofa, and then did the totally wrong thing, he boogied out and left a giant piss stain! Talk about being too fucked up to do the right thing, the god damn bathroom was about 10 paces away, you could see the toilet from the futon that was pissed on.
He hasn't been invited over to hang out since. That smelly pissfag.

lol. I almost sat in the piss spot but noticed it right before I sat, and was like this:
*I get there, and pound on the door for a minute, then come in and my buddy stumbled sleepily out of his room, we say hey what's up and go to sit down, him in his chair me on the sofa. "dude I think one of the dogs pissed on the sofa." "bullshit, tiny hasn't pissed inside in over 4 years.... wait Jeremy passed out on that sofa last night... and he's done this before..."

ummmm the police run the tag of the car which will almost certainly come back as a stolen car and then they will know to look out for that car as it is being used to rob houses. that is how thugs operate, they steal a car and then use it to rob houses and if the police know to look for that car and where the thieves are casing the odds become greater that they get caught. herp derp.

No they were not relatives or friends they were thieves. I went over and spoke to the lady that showed up when I was at his house and asked her and she told me flat out no one should be there except for her. They were prowling around the sideyard looking in windows and signaled to each other and took off.

One time I woke up at like 2am to what I thought was gunshots, but it was three young guys about 19 or 20 just pelting the fuck out of my neighbor's car. She was pretty decent neighbor. I didn't have to call the police, after they left she came out on her cell phone. When the police showed up, I came out and gave them the best description I could. They ended up being caught about 3 days later. I would feel guilty if I wouldn't step up in a situation like that.
As far as leaving the front door open, OP, I think that has more to do with individual personality and aloofy-ness. I'm forever leavin' the house stoned, and I never, ever, EVER leave my door open or unlocked. I'm slightly OCD about it, checking at least twice, making sure it's locked. I've locked my keys IN the house, though. And I'm usually sober when I do that.
