Is that bruising on the sides? And I don't think your hygrometer is in any way showing an accurate reading since it's reading the humidity given off the perlite and not the chamber itself. This could cause you to not notice it needs more humidity or has too much. Just a suggestion.

A proper SGFC doesn't need a hydrometer

Actually that's a hygrometer.
A hydrometer looks nothing at all like a hygrometer.

you fucking bitch, you stole my hydrometer.
jk haha,
those hydrometers work better on tinfoil islands.
i chucked mine, they are pretty shitty, get the job done, but whatever lol.

EDIT: If you take the plastic cover off, its one little unit, it adjusts to the change in RH a lot faster without the loser blue plastic. just place it on a tinfoil island!

Thanks for the help, but I've placed that hygrometer in every place possible in the chamber, with the same readings. It works fine I think, considering the first flush just ended. I'm drying out the cakes as we speak, hopefully they'll be completely dry later today so I can dunk 'em tonight.

Where did you read that its good to dry the substrate before dunking it? I always thought it was just soak, then fruit.
