What is more troubling to contemplate is what death could be like for someone who has their brain entirely obliterated.

I'm not afraid of my own death. The only thing that bothers me about it is leaving behind people that care about me and how they would deal with it. I can't tell if that sounds narcissistic or not.

i have the same feeling from a few intense mushroom trips, there was definitely a sense that these dimensions are what we go back to.

i dont think so cause wouldn't it be narcissistic if you only cared about what happened to you?

I would imagine it would be fairly different.
You have to take into consideration that the process of death involves the brain releasing heavy amounts of various endogenous compounds acting upon our receptors, DMT being one of them. So what happens when the glands that release these chemicals, are destroyed? And not only the glands, but also the receptors that bond with the chemicals?
I imagine it would be like blacking-out. A sudden loss in consciousness.

I agree...which made me think if his brain was still active during these 3 1/2 minutes of death. Perhaps it is just the bodies natural way of transitioning into death. Complete and utter peace, followed by nothing

I gave a friend some free funguys and he ate them when I wasn't there. He freaked out because he couldn't walk because his legs were really twitchy. So he called an ambulance and they came and picked him up. Then he started resisting them while was on the way to the hospital. He said he didn't really remember it. Only bits and pieces. Apparently someone told him he almost punched the doctor, but the doc moved to quick.
They didn't do anything for him, no medications. Just hooked him up to a heart monitor and kept him overnight.
I don't hang with that guy anymore.
I'm sure he had a near death experience there for a minute or two.

not to derail, but being confined to a hospital bed surrounded by strange people, sounds, smells, and hooked up to wires, even possibly having your hands and feet tied down sounds like a good way to make a bad trip worse. don't call 911 when you're tripping unlless you're dying, which you should have a trip sitter's oppion on if you're too fucked up
have tripsitters; trust yourself; let go
carry on

Gospel truth.
I'm not really afraid of death and I do believe that there is something more than this pathetic life. Sometimes I almost feel excited about what is next. Not that I'm in a hurry to die or anything but I have great hope that it will be a better reality or at least that I will understand more of the things that elude me. Sometimes I feel that I have a purpose in being here and that I need to pay attention to doing the work that is prescribed for me. Other times I completely loose focus and wander the earth bitching about the high cost of living and other trivial sludge.
