if you've never done it before and then have to do it your first time to try to save some body's life, i could see fucking up under pressure
Inhaling isn't that hard either never had a problem with that or swimming. Then again though, most of the population is in fact, really fucking stupid.

There are usually less pools in urban areas, because pools are large, take a lot of space, and are expensive (see my first comment).
Ever played hockey? The equipment can be thousands.
Socioeconomic factors shape our lives.
swimming gear for the public pool can cost tens of dollars, the entrance fee is usually about $3 for the day and there's many public pools in larger cities
most dont learn to swim because their parents didnt learn to swim

There could be a number of reasons why someone can't swim, the likely one being death anxiety. It isn't really their fault, their parents probably just never made them learn because they can't swim themselves and if you can't swim you tend to stay away from the water so one never learns.
Knowing how to swim does not in fact you make you any more intelligent than someone who doesn't.

Even skinny white bitches can float.
Swimming just seems so rational and intuitive to me - in the same way that if someone gave me wings even though I've never be "taught" how to fly, you bet your ass I'd start flapping.

Not true. Watch the movie kids. I forget the character's name, but he skates and then they go to a pool and he's swimming. The actor was a pro skater in real life.

Not true on both accounts. I have a black friend that has cats. As for the snake. Google water moccasin. Anaconda's swim too.

I'm looking for subliminal messages here and am just wondering..
Are there people here who are seriously considering that black people may be too dumb to swim or too lazy to pick up a basic skill?

Is that the message between the lines here guys?

Not to go off topic, but I also never understood how people don't know how to inhale their first time smoking a cig or pot. Shit, ya just breathe in, pull the smoke into your lungs like it's air ....

I've never been able to float ....I've tried relaxing and even filling up my lungs with as much air as I can, I always sink.
What's the trick?

I know right. It's impossible to sink if you keep your lungs full of air, it takes about half a second to inhale and exhale fully if you put some effort into it so I really don't know how you can drown. Probably their huge baggy ghetto clothes weighing them down or something...

Absolutely not.
It's just a fun way to toy with stereotypes.
A black child raised by a suburban family in upstate NY is probably more likely to swim than a child raised in a housing project in the Southern U.S.
