is browning on the stem ok
    #1433605 - 04/06/03 02:12 PM (20 years, 10 months ago)

i woke up today and saw that there was a dark brownish color under the cap and on the stalk of the shrooms. the shrooms are only about 30mm long. the color did not go around the whole stalk. it is more like a streak. every one of them has developed this coloring. does anyone know what this means? should i cut them off or let them continue to grow? will they be ok to eat? thanks.

are you sure that the coloring is not just spores, are the caps open and can you rub the coloring off

It's fine, though not ideal.

It means that your casing layer is too wet, but it can also mean that it's too humid in your terrarium.

Fine to eat.
