Portal 2 - worth buying?

this game, from what I have seen, appears - among other things - to be quite psychedelic friendly. I'd love to hear from anyone who has played it! I generally don't play games of this sort, but in this case I'm tempted!
Thanks!

I haven't played it..
I played the first one, and it hurt my brain sober.. it would be too hard for me on psychedelics, hah.

Yeah download that shit. It is not worth full price. I loved the first but this to me just got tedious.
from another thread.

Actually I am kind of feeling that the game is slow...
I am around chapter 6 or 7, I forget. I just started playing with all 3 new things at least at that point.
I guess I feel it is just not as creepy or ominous as the first one and some of the levels are just.... added in. Kind of to get from point a to b in the story you have to go through this large area with really no puzzle, and just looking for a place to pop a Portal.
Maybe for me it is just because it is not new and wonderful for me. So far I rate it a $40 game. That might change.
--(next day edit)--
And that's that, time to uninstall, I don't see me wanting to replay that one again. Well, glad I didn't pay for it.

I agree. It's an excellent game, just as witty and challenging as the first.

Sorry if I have brought up a topic that has already seen lots of discussion.
I am without a proper gaming PC atm - so I don't think torrenting is an option - but I will look into it. Thanks again!

I think you should play the first one first. A big part of enjoying portal for me is the darkly humorous story, and a lot of things might not make a lot of sense if you just jump in to #2.

Yeah definitely play the first one first, just rent it. It is a really short game.

I haven't made much use of my Gamefly subscription; thanks to this advice, I have added the first Portal to the top of my queue. I bought Dead Space 2 before I finished the original Dead Space, and found myself putting the original game in and finishing it so that I could follow the story line properly. I'm glad to have heard this advice so that I can avoid ending up in a similar situation with Portal!

Good deal. Also Portal 2 isn't that bad of a game in my opinion. I just don't think it is worth full price for me, maybe I am just getting old/cheap.
It is amazing to look at and the humor is pretty darn good.

I enjoyed it but wouldn't buy it full price either... then again to me there are only about 1 or 2 games a year that are truly worth 60$..

isn't episode 3 of HL2 supposed to come out before? They're taking their sweet time I'm sure it will be worth it though.

Half-life talk reminds me of when I was part of a "clan" called "Rage" back when the first multiplayer Quake "teamfortress" mods came out.
It also reminds me that I'm not a teenager anymore Part of me misses those times, but a larger part of me is eager to see what is to come - and then there's that other part that's jealous of kids who get to grow up with games whose graphics would have left me drooling, comatose on the floor when I was 13

I kind of liked growing up and old watching things progress from text based PC and atari games to where it is now.
It was kind of funny, I was suprised at how many aged players there where in the gaming community I was involved with, well at least the Admins at the time anyways.
