Vintage Barbie 1959 - 1969

I just recently inherited my grandmothers collection of vintage Barbie Dolls. She was a lifelong collector and also used to restore vintage Barbie Dolls as a hobbie.
She wanted me to have them because she used to get all the granddaughters Barbie Dolls every year for bDay and she would even go great lengths to make sure that we had certain Mattel releases that she knew would later on become limited edition. my favorites were always the Disney Princess Barbie's like the Original Princess Ariel Barbie.
I still have every Barbie she has ever given me, and even some of the ones that the other cousins didn’t want. I didn’t play with them much so I still have all the boxes and accessories in mint condition. I think that’s why she trusted them to me. It feels like yesterday when she would take me to the mall and let me pick out anything I wanted but she always got us a Barbie in the end anyway.
I feel really honored to take her collection. everytime I look at them in the room it feels like my grandmother is still here with me. I could never sell them. I have every Doll from 1959 to 1969 in almost Brand New Condition with Box & Accessories. I also have doubles/triples of some of the Dates that she would use as Part[s] Dolls.
I had no idea but some of these Dolls alone are worth easily above 6 grand. I even have special Wedding Editions from the 60’s that have porcelain faces. There is well over 50 Dolls in this collection. i saw vintage #2 starting at 6,000 & vintage #4 starting at 4,000 on eBay without Box..
I ordered some books on Amazon that specialize in vintage Barbie collecting. im waiting for them to come to help me understand the value of this collection. It seems that right now only Barbie’s before 1970 are considered to be “vintage” but in 10 – 20 years that will change.
These Dolls are amazingly beautiful, a blast from the past. it would be a near impossibility for me to ever sell them but that’s the first thing that comes to peoples mind when I mention the collection.
it has been pretty neat for me to look at these. I always got to see them growing up and I remember being little i always want to play with these Dolls but I wasn’t allowed. I think im going to continue her collection and maybe take up the hobbie of restoring the Dolls where she has left off.
anyone else a Doll collector..?

This is: 1959 - Brunette #1 Ponytail Barbie. This doll is the most sought-after doll. She is considered to be the ICON of the 1950's pop culture and commands a hefty price if in MINT condition. She comes on a body marked Barbie T.M. The torso is solid and the legs have copper tubes inside them. There is a hole in the bottom of each foot that allows her to be positioned on her two-pronged round pedestal stand. Click Here to see a picture of the feet. Due to a defect in the vinyl, these early dolls have faded to varying shades of white....ghostly white, yellowish or greenish or with a pink hue. She has soft curly bangs, lip color is red and irises are white. Note the peaked eyebrows! She comes in a Barbie TM box, with a round pedestal 2-pronged stand.

Very cool!
I used to have a collection of barbie dolls...nothing special really, just about 20 or so random dolls I found at yard sales and really wacky clothes for them to wear. Each one slightly different then the last. I always loved my Jem doll slightly more then Barbie, but Barbie was easier to accumulate.
I lost them all when I moved in with my first boyfriend. They all fell off the back of the moving truck into a ditch somewhere on highway 60 through Algonquin Park. Man, was I ever heartbroken. I wanted to keep them forever.
I still like to go to the girls toy aisles in department stores and see what new Barbies are around now. I saw some really cool Mermaid & Glitter Fairy Barbies around Christmas time. Every little girl should have a barbie...at least one.

i was at Toy's 'R Us the other day, and i saw these Dolls called, Monster High... i remember them thinking that Barbie was Bad..! these are the sluttiest Dolls i have ever seen. some of them wear Bikini's which is whatever. but i was shocked to see the Target Age to be 6 to 8 there is also Web-i-sodes of a cartoon i think u can watch online. and these Dolls are by Mattel, the makers of Barbie
here is Beach Cleo in her Bikini

and the cartoon, (is pretty fun) but not really for kids 6 - 8

Wow, eh!? All these new dolls for kids are just crazy! The Bratz are all hiphop sluts with cock sucking lips, sex eyes, and trashy outfits. Barbie was never a tramp. She was always decent and classy.

seems like ever since the Reproduction of 1959 Barbie, they have been slowly trying to get her eyes/makeup to look like the vintage ones. the eyes on them now are very similar... LoL @ JiHad Ken....

That's really cool. Two of my aunts (one is now dead) were always into collecting, and I remember seeing old barbies in boxes growing up.
I still have all my barbies from growing up because we've lived in the same house for my entire life. I'm moving soon and I've been debating whether or not to sell them with the rest of the crap i need to get rid of.

Those Bratz dolls seem pretty slutty to me. They ought to call them Slutz.
