I wish I could say I found this one, but I've not seen these growing in my neck of the woods. They may be here, I've just not seen them.
I was hiking around Chinatown in SF yesterday and bought this and some pre-slice Reishi (or Ling-zhi) as they call them in Chinatown. Also purchased dried red dates to boil with the reishi to improve the flavour.

I don't know, but they (supposedly) are imported from China. Some of the shops have red as well as black Reishi (red is very bitter, but much better for your health).
I haven't looked for regular edibles, but I imagine if I looked and asked they probably have a lot of stuff. They do have a lot of ginseng too, that stuff is pretty harsh tasting.

We don't have G. lucidum in California.
G. oregonense is the closest thing. G. applanatum might work fine for medicine too.

Out of curiosity, what did you pay for it?
I've considered selling G. Oregonense and Tsugae to Chinese shops in Vancouver and i"m wondering what the approx going rates are?

Awesome! I had a little pile of freshly picked Morels resting atop my backpack yesterday and my buddies cat was quite confused by them. Or maybe intrigued? I dunno, but it sniffed them for like a minute, and than after we all left the room and came back the morels were all on the floor...
