Sativex is the real thing, its made from raw plant material.
The time is coming people. Cannabis will end up being legal for those who are 21 and up. Big Pharma will overtake the "medical bud" market. If someone who uses cannabis for any sort of medical aliment, he will likely be able to (in this slightly educated fantasy guess of mine) either get his "prescription" from big pharma, or go to a weed store and buy it.

Yea but the beauty is in the array of flavors and highs. This stuff is just "Sativex"- a liquid extraction. It only focus is on the medical side. I like to smoke Jack Herer in the day time for productivity and then some AK to go to sleep. Or if Im looking just to really enjoy a smoke, Bubblegum or OG Kush or Diesel. That is what I would miss. I really am happy that they are using it for something and that it would help people, but my medicine is in the satisfaction of the smoke; like drinking your favorite childhood soda or a meal that only grandma can make. Emotional medicine. Plus Jack has always help with my anxiety.

I think this is where the line between recreational drug use and medicinal kinda blur. The flavors and whatnot i would immediately associate with the recreational market. Here's my two cents, if big pharma wants mmj, they'll get it eventually. If they want us out, they'll get us out violently if necessary. It's time to push full legalization and let pharma have the medical market. If we don't succeed in full legalization before they force us out of the medical market, it will all just go back underground, and I don't think any of us really want that. Just my thoughts.

Okay, we all know cannabis doesn't fit any of the conditions. So how does it being dropped one level help anyone but big pharm? It would join the ranks such favorites as methamphetamine, morphine (along with just about any opium derived drugs including opium itself) and cocaine. Which all are quite illegal to have without a doctor's prescription. The people who would benefit the most are going to be helped the least.
Plus they don't want the plant to be recognized as medicine they want their extracts, tinctures, and synthetics to be an anti-venom of sorts i.e. made from venom/poison but trough the magic of chemistry altered in such a way that its cure what ales us.

batman returns and midrange bring up very good points. You make a lot of sense, midrange, it would potentially just fall in to another illegal void. I am not full versed in the scheduling of some of the other drugs out there. I working more on just a hope. Considering the facts, and everyone should be smart enough to accept this, that smoking anything is not the best thing for you, mj, in its recreational form, may always be considered a Schedule I because of this. If we dont get the legalization through, yes, big pharm will use its infinite money source to keep everything in their hands. Very good points. The good thing is the length of time for the medical field to approve something like this. At least from my knowledge.

they would definitely push out the medical marijuana market, but i don't see why legalization favorability would drop among citizens and senators that already support it would not all of a sudden not.

yes we should keep pot illegal and continue to allow our brothers and sisters to rot in jail for non-violent drug offenses.

Exactly right. Apparently SlightlyStoned has never heard of microbreweries in the beer industry. There will be plenty of microgrow companies sprouting up all over the place when all out legalization takes place. Locking people up for possessing, selling, or using dried flowers from a plant will never make sense no matter how you spin it.

i mean brothers and sisters metaphorically, as in everyone who is currently serving double digits to life for a non-violent drug offense.
*edit.

....they are only talking about legalizing a liquid form for people with end-stage cancer. We all know the dispensaries are selling the majority of their product to people with migraines, chronic pain not related to cancer, etc.
So big deal - this really has no bearing on the dispensaries, and as the article clearly shows, dispensaries are going to be under attack whether or not Sativex is allowed to be sold by big pharma.
