haha just kidding. they need to be air-tight for sterilizing and wide mouthed to get the substrate out after the consolidation stage

there are several teks on the forum that utilize large pickle jars for canning jars. Just make sure the lid has all the same attributes as a canning lid, eg rubber seal on bottom of lid. Also, if you're thinking of doing 1/2 gallon or gallon jars keep in mind that you need to G2G to that large of a jar @ a high ratio.

PS I have a lid tek in my sig that works for ALL lids, as long as they fit the completely sealed & PCable criteria.

I'm sure OP is speaking in regards to grain jars. PF tek should be done in 1/2 pint jars & grains can go as big as GE & proper colonization allows.

i wasnt even thinking. i also saw your instruction for the lids and could only do the first step in Pre-Construction...so i fail

lol, you gotta watch out for the first step in pre-construction...it'll get ya every time.
