On the recent Dr. Oz medical marijuana debate episode, a young mental health counselor in the audience argued wholly against medical marijuana, going so far as to say "you're better off on those opiates because they have drugs to treat opiate addiction like methadone and suboxone!"
I'm sure everybody's aware of the backwards logic here. The drugs used to treat opiate addiction treat an extra layer of addiction, namely physical addiction. Marijuana can be considered psychologically addictive whereas opiates are both physically and psychologically addictive.
Well I just needed to get that off my chest. But this type of backwards logic, trickery almost, is used so frequently amongst stupid humans.

I don't know what show you're talking about but are you sure it wasn't a joke? Because reading that it just seems like they're taking a stab at people who think prescription drugs are better because they are legal.

"Physical addiction or psychological addiction – Is there a real difference? There's no such thing as a purely psychological addiction Published on July 26, 2010 This is another one of the basic questions I get regarding addiction.
It seems that people think about physical addiction and psychological addiction as somehow separate processes. I think this distinction makes no sense. Even if people really meant what they were saying, the brain is undoubtedly part of the body, and therefore, psychological addictions are also physical."

smoke 2 packs of cigarettes per day for 5 years and you've slightly reduced your lungs capacity to process air, stop and in a few years your lungs will heal, I've known people that have smoked for 40 or more years that havent developed cancer or anything else, jackie gleason for instance had healthy lungs but smoked 5 packs a day, of course you wont be smoking 100 or even 40 joints per day and the big difference is that those pills the doctards prescribe can destroy your liver
"why yes, of course the opiates are better even considering the liver damage because now we can do costly liver transplants that your body may reject and it'll allow you to eat more pills to prevent that"

As someone who suffers from severe chronic joint pain, i have to say marijuana is ineffective for pain management. Opiates are far better if you only use them when you truly need them. Tramadol is where its at for pain management imo.
