Does over watering cause Mushrooms to fruit when they are still tiny?

No it will ruin them tbh. Are they smaller than assumed? Misting/fanning schedule? Fanning is very important, lighting as well and if your temp is below 70 it takes longer but they become much more dense and fuller in the stems.
Details would help but over watering is never a good thing with any organisms that I know of.

It has not happened to me, but I do have standard lighting, indirect light from sun and lighting from the room when I am chilling in my room from the light bulb

If you're not getting ~12 hours of light from the sunlight indirectly for it, your room light bulb (unless it's around ~6500k) will not compensate. I am kind of bumping this thread too because I say very general things rather than the specific ones more experienced users here say.
Blessings on your grow! Hopefully you will get it sorted out

Yes, waterlogging the substrate will result in small mature mushrooms......
-------------------- The mushrooms, which grow only during the season of torrential rains, awaken the forces of creation and produce an experience of spiritual abundance, of an astonishing, inexhaustible constitution of forms that identifies them with fertility and makes them a mediation, a means of communion, of communication between man and the natural world of which they are the metaphysical flesh.

What happens if I do not get 12 hours of correct lighting? Where will I be cutting myself short? Small fruits, less yield?

First question is a good one, not sure exactly. I have had grows in which the light cycle was all messed. 8 hour light days, 15 hour light days. Still had a good turnout but ide recommend 12/12......Waterlogging the sub will result in poor pinsets and small mushrooms which will cut down on the yield. But if its MANY small ones then the yield can be good. Also remember that its random genetics. All mushrooms will be different sizes no matter how good the conditions are. (unless its an isolate or clone, then it will be more consistant)

I fruited this tub in the dark for days at a time and was almost a complete neglect.

I personally have found that once the primordia show strong development and growth to go ahead and cut back the light cycle, The mighty Agar has even reported this to be beneficial
They seem to soak up light and store it, then when in dark the explosion of growth happens. that combined with "Cold fruiting" and a "stressed Sub" I.e "heatshock" can produce some cool results.
"Cold fruiting" = Dense fruit/Slower growth But not by much(marginal) and possibly more potency
"stressed Sub" = Can have good/bad results...but can possibly ass to potency
"heatshock" = part of the stressed sub idea and can produce wicked pinsets
Have fun
