"Can you come for an interview, again? Oh wait, there's the alien!"

I interviewed about a week ago for a job in a turkey processing plant (at least it's a job). When I called to "follow up," they said they were conducting more interviews and hadn't made a decision. Well, they called me yesterday requesting a second interview... WTF does that mean? I hate being scrutinized, but I felt like I nailed it the first time. Now I gotta do it again?... Bastards!

that happened to me recently. I was called for the first and then a second with the manager of the store. I thought it might have been a good sign, and they said they would call either way but they never did. But I think nevertheless it must be a selection process and it just means you're on to the next phase, so just go and give your best. And good luck

Jesus, multiple rounds of interviews are very common. Be grateful you still have a chance.

My EE buddy interviewed for four hours his first time, had him come back and do it again.

The first one is usually with some human resources chick doing a preliminary screening. Then the second one is with the person who does the actual hiring.
Or sometimes the second one is to fill out your tax paperwork and take a piss test.

Cool. Hopefully I'll get it. I think they liked me for it if they interviewed several people and called me back Wish me luck

I'll play along:
You'd agree to pay someone money, train them, and such, without being fucking sure they're not retarded?
Or maybe you'd live in some kind of clan-type group where you know everyone so well that it wouldn't be necessary?

It only takes a moment to ensure someone can push buttons, use office supplies, or pull levers.
I know we like to pretend our jobs are important (opportunist insert: "culture is not your friend." Thanks, McKenna!) but the majority of them are very easy and require only minimal intelligence and energy expenditure.
It's best to laugh at the absurdity rather than justify it with an economical analysis.

Last job I interviewed for they flew me in for dinner, then interviewed me for 8 hours in shifts with 4 people questioning me at a time. Plus a 45 min presentation in the middle.
All in all it was about 12 hours of interviewing.

I did a 2 day interview once, the foreman gave me a test, I had to build a machine to perform a function, it had to be a simple design to form metal and required hydraulic and electrical components.. I failed because I used teflon tape because there was no pipe thread compound available to me, other than that they said it was one of the most efficient designs they'd seen because it involved rollers which reduced friction
the upside, the interview paid and while they liked the design they destroyed the stuff to see how well my welds would hold so it's not like I was being screwed out of the machines design
