Are you a car guy?
    #14327080 - 04/21/11 10:22 AM (12 years, 10 months ago)

Do you love cars? bikes? Basically anything that has a motor in it?

Are you a fan of big muscle cars and Lamboghinies?

You know the type.

i like things with motors in them. not some much engines... i think engines, particularly internal combustion engines which use mined fuel sources, are so 20th century. we need to move on to more practical, less resource consuming, widely used, prime moving machines.

it sucks because i love driving and stuff, but the technology making the car move makes me cringe. if i find the time this summer i'm going to convert an old beater bike to electric.

I just helped my brother build a K24a2 motor for his civic hatch.

Bitch comes out of second gear at 80mph.
I'll post some pics/vids soon

I like F1 cars and their engines.  They Rev out to 18,000 RPM, but they cost in the millions.  0-150mph in 2.5 seconds though, they make lamborghinis and muscle cars seem like a stand still.

I finally got a "real" car when I moved from my Honda civic to a 2011 accord coupe.  Obviously, the ride and appeal of the car has increased, but I'm not sure it was worth the extra 8-10k in sticker price.  I think this once and for all qualifies me as a "non-car" guy.

I'll just never be the type to spend more on mods than the actual car.  I don't see the appeal in making a trash can go fast.

Probably would have saved a little to grab like the '06 coupe.  I know they still pack like 225HP+ in some of the v6 models.  I'm just not a Honda fan so I haven't kept up hehe.

*hugs his Nissan Pathfinder*  I like trucks and SUVs more.

I personally just find them sexy as hell. I love going to car shows and nothing compares to the feeling of cruisen in a tricked out whip.

The actual working on them is not something I enjoy at all but the results are often worth it.
For instance this is my previous truck, lowering it was a huge pain in the ass but damn she looks good afterwards  and the satisfaction of having done it myself makes it worth it.

I used to be into cars much more when I was younger. When I was about 10 to 18 years old I was really into cars, engines, and auto racing. None of that pansy nascar shit though...F1, Rally, and world super bike, it still blows my mind that those 3 forms of racing aren't as big in the US as they are through the rest of the world.

I used to know damn near every bit of specifications for damn near every car/truck on the road. I Rebuilt my first engine when I was 14. And from 13 to 19 I was racing Shifter karts , I was aspiring to be in some form of auto racing somewhat as a career. Kart racing is the first stepping stone for almost every career racer out there, and I was on my way until my Kart & gear was stolen ($10k+ gone) and had no funds to replace it and get back into racing  ....I'm still incredibly bummed about that until this day.

Being that young and in a kart that will go from 0 to 60mph in 3 seconds, hit 100mph easily, and cornering capabilities of over 3gs....It was a fucking blast  . One day I will get back into it on the amateur and regional level, but my dreams of being a "race car driver" are done for :nonono: .

When it comes to cars though...I like handling performance over power, small light nimble cars with just enough power to make em' scoot.

.

Dream cars for me right now would be a Lexus sc430, and/or a "72 SS Chevelle with a 427. My first car was a 68 Impala custom 2 door steel blue interior and body,327 V8 quadra jet 4 barrel with the round tail lights. Next was a 73 Galaxie 500 390 V8 quadra jet 4 barrel, and that weird purple color 4 door, then a 73 Chevy Nova 350 V8 quadra jet 4 barrel 2 door 2 tone khaki and white top. My mom had a 76 Malibu 350 V8, and a 78 Caprice classic wtih the 454 V8.  *SIGH*

So yes, I am a "car guy".

Aesthetically its the body lines, the curves, the way the paint glitters, the way everything is so well engineered that all the parts fit together in a near-seamless fashion to create a moving work of art.

Cars are a feast for the senses. The power that pushes you back in your seat when you stomp the gas pedal. The growl of the exhaust steadily increasing with the rise of RPMs. The squalling of the tires as they fight for traction. The perfect *snick* of the gearshift as it slots into gear. The smell of burnt rubber hanging in the air, the marks on the pavement that may as well be a sign saying "Ima Trooper was here".

Its the way you impose your will on a piece of machinery specifically designed for it. When you feel and see and smell all this, sometimes the car becomes a more powerful extension of yourself. Its not just "tires burning" or "suspension straining", its MY tires burning, MY suspension straining. There are moments of perfection in it that transcend time.

I waxed a bit poetic about it, but thats basically it. When your vehicle becomes an extension of you, its a beautiful, intoxicating feeling of power.
