This is my G8 when I was on the tail of the dragon. It was supercharged 500 rwhp and had suspension work done. I ran an 11.8 with the stock tires. It was crazy fast and sounded so mean. I sold it to finance my move to CA and I miss it so much.

it sucks because i love driving and stuff, but the technology making the car move makes me cringe. if i find the time this summer i'm going to convert an old beater bike to electric.
there's a very serious dark side to the 'green' technology that no one wants to think about, most electric production comes from fossil fuels like natural gas, oil and coal, solar energy isnt efficient enough at the current time and it's one of the worst sources of pollution in it's production, wind energy is a bit cleaner in production of the unit but you still have to strip mine for that copper and you still have a lot of hazardous chemicals used to produce the devices. hydro electric, it sounds so clean and it almost is until you realize just how many ecosystems the current dams have destroyed, not to mention the displacement of man and animals and regardless of what 'alternative' energy source you decide on, you have to develop a way of storing it when you're unable to produce, batteries being the answer but what happens when it comes time to dispose of those batteries, sure they are recyclable but even then you're dealing with the lifespan that limits the number of times they can be
yeah... I dont buy into this crap about clean energy or green vehicles

I've been over 200mph once, I've traveled at 178mph on the oval, I've been at road atlanta with a 375hp fiat x/19 but by far the most exciting and fun I've had was running at 115mph sideways on mud and traveling at 80mph on trails through the woods in an old RX7... I wasnt driving and my ass was grabbing on to the upholstery the whole time... that car went places jeeps didnt make it

What is it for you?
I personally just find them sexy as hell. I love going to car shows and nothing compares to the feeling of cruisen in a tricked out whip.
The actual working on them is not something I enjoy at all but the results are often worth it. For instance this is my previous truck, lowering it was a huge pain in the ass but damn she looks good afterwards and the satisfaction of having done it myself makes it worth it.

I have a thing against lowered trucks. What's the point in ruining something that's made for hauling/4x4 and such? Well I guess yeah if you're buying one of those chevy xtreme 4banger trucks with FWD....
No offense, it's just how did you lower it? Did you cut into the frame to lower the leafsprings etc? I like some cars lowered, it helps with aerodynamics and such and makes sense but not with a truck... You'd get stuck the second you drove around my area.

I will say nice paint job though.

I've really been out of the loop as far as what's going on in automotive world lately, like I mention in my prior post I used to be up on every little spec of every car out there whether I was interested in it or not...
But I'm keeping my eye on the new car being co-developed by Toyota and Subaru...The Toyota FT-86/Subaru 216a/Scion FR-S.
The power plant is a NA 2.0 boxer engine from Subaru putting out around 200hp, though Subaru said a turbo-charged version is quite possibly going to be put into production down the line. Rear wheel drive .
IMO it's a pretty sharp looking car .
Here's the Toyota Version...

And I that purr from boxer engines

Im restoring a 1965 vw bug right now, I wish I could just pay someone to do all the work but thats never going to happen. So I do everything myself, it sucks while you are in the middle of it but I know after every things done and I get done with that final stroke of buffing compound on my new paint job I sprayed. I will feel good about doing all the body work all the rust repair etc..

Nice, I'm such a noob at everything. I have to learn how to use all kinds of tools before I can even work on my car. I just bought a mig welder today so I can replace the floor pans.

lol... some years ago a guy hit me up to help him move X-Ray machines, his business was repairing, reconditioning and resale, mostly to the east european market. anyway, the guy had a '71 volvo P1800 he was restoring, it was originally 2 totaled cars that were cut and rejoined, and the wiring had been spliced back together wrong, they connected red to red, blue to blue, green to green, etc... when you turned on the wipers the horn sounded, hit the horn for the headlights to come on... they wiring was all screwed but for someone that could take a schematic that had nothing but red wires in the machine and rebuild it, he couldnt do the car
it was a bitch, a 1 piece wiring harness with fuel injection, all the wires for the fuel injection were white...

Lol that sounds like a project from hell. Wiring borders on dark magic for me, I don't know much about it and I'm confused and scared, lol. I am getting more experience all the time though, mostly because I keep having to keep my cars running, haha.

That sounds pretty badass. I love how light these cars are, build a modest 120hp engine and you have yourself a pretty quick car. Pretty cheap parts too.

yeah... I dont buy into this crap about clean energy or green vehicles
not too mention the machines that have to mine the copper and all of what goes into making them. all the steel, circuit boards (e-waste is a major issue), all the polymers used (see pacific ocean garbage patch,) the combusted fuel, the grease, etc. or the food that it took to feed the workers (fertilized with petroleum products, bug repellented with petroleum products, harvested with petroleum products, more steel, etc), or all the gas they produce (and their kids), all their garbage, all the shit that went into making their home, and powering them, and omg the list continues on.
the way we humans do shit is fucked up, true, but what you've just said is ridiculous pris. lol. i almost liked you. the fact of the matter is fossil fuels aren't sustainable and you can make electricity out of just about any physical differential you can find. the former is quickly becoming obsolete, while the latter is incredibly diverse and simple.
sure, the technology behind electromagnetism isn't exactly 'clean' or 'green' haha... but thats not really what i'm looking to get out of an ev. i never once said that i was, that was a major assumption on your part. you spewed quick a bit of bs; for instance there are many way to harness solar energy, though you made the implication that the solar cell is the only way. one example would be a parabolic array of mirrors to concentrate sun light onto a steam engine. or those fancy new solar towers which are basically a large scale version of the mirror array.
it isn't about 'clean energy vihecles' and their infingement on your right to do whatever the fuck else. i mean it's almost like you seemed threatened by the whole concept. truthfully, i feel jipped because i grew up loving cars. drooling over all the cool shit i'll get to drive when i'm older. but now that i'm older, the times have changed, and it's clear to me that internal combustion engines are not only unsustainable but need to be quickly phased out. they will be obsolete in the near future and it's just that simple.
ps. gasoline is a money making scheme you trick.

wiring can be a nightmare, since it was a resto I used all the original connectors, I disassembled them, pulled the wire from the contacts and used new wire and recrimped and reassembled them
but really, it's simple if you just follow this diagram the one I had was in swedish or some shit

Yeah the rear frame was notched and where the axle is mounted under the leafs in the photo, is flipped to sit ontop of the leafs giving about 7" of drop

And yes it is often critisized for same reasons youv listed, your opinion is shared by many others lol But lowering it doesn't really stop it from being able to haul things other than trailers and it frequently did get used to haul stuff.
I just love the look, Form > function imo. Its a 2wd so really no different than lowering a car.

I knew a guy with a duallie that he dropped, a chevy 3500, he grafted a z-28 cowl into the hood and made it functioning, it was a badass truck, he drove it daily and used it for hauling carpet, since it was a street vehicle lowering didnt affect it
the notched frame is something I couldnt abide, too much loss of stricture

that new toyota would look cool with an old school celica like front end. make it kind of boxy but still modern like GM. it's a cool car but kind of looks like an electric razor.
ps i edit my last post in case anyone missed it.
